- women who are overweight have higher insulin levels
2. Exercise regularly
- causing a 25% risk difference
3. Limit time spent sitting
- 6 hours spent sitting vs. 3 can increase risk by 10%
4. Limit alcohol
- 3 glasses of wine a week can increase your chances
5. Avoid or limit hormone replacement therapy

How much of your day is spent sitting? Your drive to work, your 8 - 10 hour workday at the office, and the couple of hours you spend in front of the TV or computer when you get home all add up to some serious sitting time.
According to Dr. James Levine, professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic, "Sitting is more dangerous than smoking, kills more people than HIV, and is more treacherous than parachuting. We are sitting ourselves to death."
