Event Spotlight- Wellness Fair

Wednesday, November 2nd:

Come see the Wellness Fair from 11-1pm in the Student Atrium and visit all of the booths from different departments on-campus as well as off-campus partners. Everything from desserts, food, giveaways and coupons will be available!

Lunch and Learn for Celebration of Native American Heritage Month

  • Keynote by Bruce Kafer- Member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, a registered nurse, a doctoral student, and a SAMSA Minority Fellow
  • Talk is titled Native America: Truth and Consequences

Fall 2022 JCU GUTS!

What's GUTS?

  • Inspired by the old Nickeodeon TV show, JCU GUTS consists of a variety of different events in which each team participates. As a four-person team (no gender requirements), each team will go through the different events tallying up points as the night goes on. The teams with the most points at the end of the night will move on to a semi-final round and the top four teams will go onto the final round in the quest for the aggrocrag.


When is it? 

  • November 18th and the RecPlex, starts at 6:15pm and ends when you lose! 


How many people do I need to sign up? 

  • The roster minimum is 4 with no gender requirements


When do I need to sign up by?

  • November 14th at midnight

Opportunities in the Student Health Center
  • Dietician Visits- Tuesday November 8th and Wednesday, November 16th
  • Shannon Stovsky,RD, LD -Registered Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian
  • Meet with students seeking help with weight management, athletic sports diet, and any eating/dietary concerns.
  • Appointments for personalized nutritional consultations can be made by calling the Student Health and Wellness Center staff at 216-397-4349.
  • There is no fee to see the Nutritionist


  • Women’s Wellness Clinic- Tuesday, November 29th
  • A Women’s Wellness Clinic will be offered from 9:00-11:30 am at the Student Health and Wellness Center.
  • The health practitioner examines students with gynecological concerns, performs breast exams, routine PAP testing, and all STD testing. 
  •  For questions, or to make an appointment, please call 216.-397-4349.


  • STD Testing- Wednesday, November 30th
  • The Student Health and Wellness Center will offer confidential, free testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia between 10 am and 1pm.
  • The testing is provided by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. For health safety, you will need to make an appointment with a link provided in an email or on our Instagram closer to the testing date.

Additional Events this Month

  • Tower Time Gratitude Across Cultures
  • Cultures at JCU will be coming together at Tower Time (1:50pm) on November 16th to share their traditional dishes as an early Thanksgiving Feast, so come learn about these delicious dishes and try some too! 


Resources of the Month

Counseling Center :The Counseling Center is a FREE service for JCU students. Located at the Garden Level of Dolan Hall, available anytime from 8am to 5:30pm. To schedule, call 216-397-4283 or use the online portal to request an appointment.


Wellness Coaching: A short-term, casual, non-judgmental, and easy way to ask hard questions through one on on meetings with a peer or staff member. Topics can range from transition to college, mental health, relationships, and more. The Wellness Center is located on the back side of the Dolan Residence Hall and you can email wellness@jcu.edu to set up a time.


Health and Nutrition Classes: Interested in taking a course on Human Nutrition?  EPA 229 (Human Nutrition) will be offered Monday nights from 6:30-9:15 during the Spring 2023 semester. 


Student Accessibility Services: Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides accommodations and support for students with disabilities.
