HB 123- Medical Price Transparency
Rep. Spohnholz at ease during the Operating Budget 2018
Last year I started working on a bill I think most of us can relate to. We need to make a doctor appointment and we're on a budget, and we find there's no real way to find out how much the procedure will cost. I introduced HB 123 to require medical providers to post common services and their rates, in addition to providing a good faith estimate of the cost of the procedure.

The bill passed the House last year, and was just heard in the Senate Health and Social Services committee last week. The bill was moved out of the committee and its next stop is Senate Judiciary Committee.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. During this time, groups around the country focus on ways we can prevent child abuse in our country. This year's theme is Strengthening Families.

We know that when families spend more time doing activities together and taking care of each other they tend to have healthier, happier, and safer homes.

This poster from the Alaska Children's Trust suggests many activities you can try with you're family. don't forget to take pictures and share them on social media using #CANAK2018.
