Healthy Choices
CrossOver Smoking Cessation
If you have ever tried to quit smoking, you know how hard it can be. When you don't have the support you need, it is even harder.

This was the difficult situation Manny faced. For the past year, Manny has been receiving care at CrossOver for the past year to help control his anxiety.

During a nurse visit, Manny mentioned that he was trying to quit smoking, but was having a hard time standing up to peer pressure to smoke at work.

Our volunteer nurse referred him to our PharmD program run by the VCU School of Pharmacy. This interdisciplinary team brings pharmacy and behavioral health together to help our patients manage complex health issues.

The PharmD team worked with Manny by giving him coping strategies to deal with his coworkers and adjusting his anxiety medication.

With their help and regular visits with his primary care doctor, Manny has now been tobacco free for 3 months!

We are so excited for Manny and all of our patients who make the choice to quit.
When you quit smoking your body starts to heal itself within minutes!
