Cardboard Lexus
Cardboard Lexus ??

This cardboard life-sized replica of the Lexus IS sedan, was on display at the consumer exhibition show in Birmingham, UK this past week.

The cardboard cut-out car has a replica interior, functioning doors, headlights and rolling wheels. An electric motor mounted on its steel and aluminum frame allows the car to drive.  It looks like a car, and functions like a car but it is an impostor having no real practical value as a vehicle.

The same can be said for much of the food on the shelves in our stores.  Despite the extraordinary engineering feat it took to create these processed foods, they are poor replicas of real food when it comes to nutrition.  They look good, taste good, and have appealing packaging but the nutritional value is about equal to cardboard.

It has been our mission for the past 15 years to make it easy for you to have access to "real" food with extraordinary nutritional value.  We also strive to provide reliable information about health and nutrition.  If you have been customers for a while thank you for your patronage, and if you are new to us, we hope you give us a try.  Check out our "Best-seller" category i t is full of "real" food options like filet mignon, free range chicken breasts, and ground beef patties

In this week's article, Kelley Herring continues to explore the role of the "microbiome" in our health, and what we can do to get it working on our behalf toward achieving that healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Sears discusses the importance of paying attention to the manner in which we prepare our food.  In the article he reveals how some of our more popular methods can rob even our "healthy" foods of the precious nutrients.  Remember to take advantage of the

One of Scott's readers asks for advice on how to achieve an impressive 30 lb. fat loss in three months.  Scott provides some great insights on how to reach such an aggressive goal and shares and "after-burner" technique to add to an interval workout for ramping-up the fat loss.  Check out Scott's article .

You Are Making Good Food Choices, Are You Getting All The Nutrients You Can?

By: Dr. Al Sears, MD

How you prepare your food is just as important as what you eat.

You can start with the highest quality organic produce, grass-fed meats, and wild-caught fish... but if you cook it the wrong way, you might kill off many of the natural nutrients and antioxidants.

Today, I'll take you through some of the most popular methods for preparing food, and how each one affects the power and potency of your favorite foods.

And I'll introduce you to a new kitchen technology that I've been using.

Are "Aliens" Making You Hungry?

By: Kelley Herring, Healing Gourmet

Have you ever felt strong emotional cravings for certain foods? And have you ever experienced these cravings... even when you knew that your body had enough to eat.

It's well known that emotions and stress can play a role in food cravings. And of course, your hormones also send signals to your brain that boost hunger and cravings.

But what if there was something else that could cause these feelings? In fact, what if some of the cravings you experience did not even originate in your own brain... but instead, you were acting on impulses from another entity?

This might sound like the beginning of a science fiction story. In this case, however, the truth might be stranger than fiction...

Turn On Your Afterburners for Rapid Fat Loss

By:  Scott Mendelson

Scott,

I am very concerned that the next 3 months will be disastrous in regards to body fat build up with
Vacation Swim
the weather getting cold, shorter days, holidays, and travel!  I would like to lose 30 pounds of fat in 3 months before a holiday trip to the Bahamas while keeping up with my executive responsibilities.  How do I do it?  What do you suggest for breakfast choices?

Roger

Roger

Thirty pounds of fat loss in 90 days is aggressive, but highly achievable with the right weight training, nutrition and interval sprint program built for your specific needs. Dr. Serrano and I discuss a ground breaking system which includes a strategic warm up, interval sprints and an Afterburner sequence to follow the intervals.  Intervals deplete glycogen which make stored fat more accessible to be burned by the Afterburners directly following.  Typical steady state cardio teaches the body to store fat!

"Our Family Likes It Alot"

We find it perfect for us.  We are gluten free and make our own bread which is not tall.  We eat gluten free crackers, so this is perfect size and it tastes very good.  If you like and expect conventional bologna, then it's probably not what you want, but our family likes it alot.

Migas Flavored Flat Iron Steak

Flat Iron Steak
Mmmmmm !!!!!!!
Author:   Stanley Fishman

Migas refers to pieces of beef seasoned with paprika and garlic, and quickly cooked in hot fat. This is a traditional Spanish treat, which has been enjoyed for a very long time.

The flat iron is a tender cut of meat near the chuck area. It usually comes with a thick wad of sinew right in the middle, but U.S. Wellness Meats trims out this wad of sinew from their flat iron steaks, which come ready to cook.

Serves:  4

Ingredients:
For The Marinade:
  • 4 tablespoons unfiltered organic extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons white wine, preferably sherry
  • 2 teaspoons smoked Spanish paprika
  • 2 teaspoons organic granulated garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon organic oregano, crumbled between your fingers
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground organic black pepper

For The Cooking:
  • 1 teaspoon coarse unrefined sea salt, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons Kerrygold unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, preferably Spanish
Directions:

  1. The day before you plan to make the steaks, prepare the marinade by combining all ingredients, and mixing them well.
  2. Place the meat in a glass bowl, and cover all surfaces with the marinade.
  3. Cover the bowl, and let rest at room temperature for 1 hour, then refrigerate overnight.
  4. Remove the meat from the refrigerator at least 1 hour before you plan to cook it, so it can come to cool room temperature.
  5. Remove the meat from the marinade and place on a plate. Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with the salt.
  6. Place the butter and olive oil in a heavy-bottomed frying pan that is large enough to hold the steaks.
  7. Heat the pan at medium heat until the butter is melted and the fat is hot and bubbly.
  8. Carefully add the steaks to the hot fat.
  9. Cook for 4 minutes on each side for rare; or 5 minutes on each side for medium rare.
  10. Serve and enjoy the rich, traditional flavors.
