  gridlockGridlock Reform Is Essential

Ken Blackwell
CNP Action, Inc. Board Member and CNP Member Ken Blackwell wrote an article for Townhall entitled The Time Has Come For Gridlock Reform . In it, he writes "When the Senate confirmed Judge David Nye to a federal district judgeship in Idaho, he became an acute illustration of what's wrong in Washington right now. Judge Nye was originally appointed by President Obama for the judgeship and enjoyed wide support from Senate Democrats, but when President Trump - in a good will gesture toward bipartisanship - re-nominated him those same Democrats delayed his confirmation for the maximum amount of time under senate rules. Now, why would they do that? Senate Democrats have now become the doctors of Gridlock." To read Ken's entire article, click here.

Mike Thompson
Speaking of gridlock, the above infographic from CRC Public Relations puts the obstruction by Senate Democrats on judicial nominations in perspective. CNPAI Secretary and Treasurer and CNP Member Mike Thompson is the Senior Vice President of CRC Public Relations.

to Destroy Conservatives
On August 22, The Stream published LEAKED: Media Matters' Secret Plan to Destroy Conservatives. It begins, "Now we know: Earlier this year, the left-wing activist group Media Matters began an all-out effort to destroy conservatives. The founder laid out the details in the 49-page Democracy Matters: Plan for Strategic Action. He didn't expect it to be leaked to the public. In a document labeled 'Private and Confidential,' Media Matters founder David Brock explains how the group intends to take down some of the most well-known leaders on the right and squelch conservative speech and policies. Left-wing billionaire George Soros is one of the financial backers." To read the entire article, click here.

New Tax Reform Landing Page

Right now is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to move forward with bold, pro-growth tax reform to cut taxes, create jobs, grow wages and vault America back in the lead. The House GOP has launched fairandsimple.gop for the public to learn more about their principles for tax reform. The page explains that one of their goals is to make the tax code simpler by throwing out special-interest loopholes and consolidating deductions. They propose that their plan will make filing taxes so easy that the American people will only have to submit a postcard like the one pictured above. For more information, please visit fairandsimple.gop.

FRC No Religious Test for
Government Service Petition

During a Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for Amy Coney Barrett, a Notre Dame law professor nominated by President Trump to a federal judgeship, several U.S. senators, including Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Al Franken (D-MN), used Barrett's faith to cast suspicion on her suitability as a judge. Sadly, this is not new ground for some in the Senate. This comes on the heels of another instance earlier this year of religious hostility by a senator towardPresident Trump's nominee to be Deputy Director ofthe White House Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought. When Vought answereda question about his Christian faith, SenatorBernie Sanders (I-VT) declared Mr.Vought is "really not someone who this country is supposed to be about."OurConstitution guarantees there will be no religious litmus test. Americans should never be forced to choose between their faith and public service. The Family Research Council (FRC) encourages you to sign their petition urging senators to pledge not to oppose nominees on the basis of their religious views.

    genderTransgender Pronouns...for the Classroom?
Mat Staver
CNP Member and Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver issued a press release about a recent memo from the United States Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights to public schools and teachers stating that if they refuse to refer to transgender students by their preferred pronoun, then it could mean big trouble. GOPUSA wrote an article on this topic and expressed that conservatives have lost their confidence in Secretary DeVos "as a champion for conservative and biblical ideals."
 nomSigning Opportunity: NOM
Religious Liberty Rights Protection Petition

All across America, people of faith have been targeted by the government for adverse action because of their traditional beliefs about marriage. Bakers, florists, photographers, inn keepers, small businesses, charities, schools, pastors and churches, among many others, have been targeted for persecution. People have been sued, fined and even jailed. They have been forced to give up their ministries, been threatened with closure and loss of federal accreditation, and had their reputations ruined simply because they believe in the truth of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Brian Brown
Not only do these attacks violate the religious liberty rights of people of faith, they are unconstitutional, wrong and unfair. This persecution must end. The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) asks you to sign their petition demanding that President Trump and Congress get off the dime, quit talking and start acting.

CNP Member Brian Brown is the President and Former Executive Director of NOM.
