Helen White - Painting Light

The Bank Holiday weekend is here, marking those last few weeks of summer before the busy Autumn months start rolling and, it occurs to me, I need to let people know where my work is hanging! I've been away more than not for the last few weeks but my work is still, very much, 'out there' with some lovely new gallery spaces added to my repertoire so, if you are able to, do pop along to these (see Exhibitions below).

In the meantime, here's a taster of some of the most recent artwork appearing on my website. I can tell you that the upcoming work - which I'm working on in every spare moment - is getting much larger, so more on that in the next newsletter.

New additions

The summer  has brought  new  preoccupations to light; here's a sample of my newest light-filled canvases.  M ore to see online.

You can also read all about the inspiration behind "Uncommon  Blu e" (below)and some of my other work in my brand new art blog 'Painting Light'.

As some of you know, I've been blogging for years but recently decided to create an art-dedicated space where I can share new work, inspiration, thoughts on the way that art is being portrayed in the media, on TV and in film (for instance, the BBC's recent 'Life in Squares' drama based on the Bloomsbury set) and reviews of exhibitions I have been to. These have recently included:
  • The BP National Portrait Awards 2015
  • Sonia Delany at Tate Modern
  • The Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam
  • The Vermeer Centre, Delft, Netherlands
  • The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
  • The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam including the Joan Miro sculpture exhibition
  • The New English Art Club at The Mall Galleries London
  • The Groeninge Museum of Flemish Art,Bruges
  • The National Gallery, London
  • Bruges Triennale 2015
Not bad going for one summer but, as an artist, I know just how important it is to keep viewing other work and fuelling the inspiration fires so if you are interested in my spin on other art that I've  seen as well as broader art-related topics,  my blog Painting Light is worth a dip. Am steadily catching up with my reviews as we speak...

For the last couple of months and continuing until 11th September, a selection of work has been on display at Art at Goring Gallery, Goring on Thames.

Six recent pieces, including the portrait 'Blossoming' (which is on loan at the gallery) are included so if you are anywhere near lovely riverside Goring over the Bank Holiday week, do pop in to see them.

After that, my work is straight off to another exhibition...

"WILD" at The Robin's Nest Gallery, Wargrave on Thames

This exhibition runs from 16th September until 28th October and includes five of my paintings alongside an eclectic mixture of sculpture, photography, prints and more in a lovely exhibition space. The private view is on 18th September so keep your eyes peeled in your email box for the invite, coming soon, as it includes a special discount voucher that can be used on the night.
