Come hang out and enjoy the new park and the beautiful weather this Saturday! There will be over 20 unique, artisan, and local vendors this weekend selling their wares in the park and on Market ave from 10am - 4pm!  We are also hosting live music and entertainment featuring Exploding Lies, Voxcaster, How to Breathe Underwater and Prisoners. Public Square Group's (http://www.publicsquaregroup.com/) Skate Kitchen Pop Up Skatepark will be at our Ice Cream social!  See demonstrations from area skaters and learn tips from PSG Skate Counselors. Bring your skateboards and helmets if you have them and or try skateboarding for the first time!

This summer Greenwood and Fairview Parks will be hosting Ice cream socials every week! 

Join us on Tuesdays at 7pm at Greenwood Park
for free ice cream and other activities such as the St. Ignatius Circus Jugglers. A full list of activitiehere. Admission is free!

Before ice cream, let go of workday stress with weekly Tuesday night yoga classes in Greenwood park at 6pm. All levels are welcome and the cost is $10 per class, make sure to bring your mat and water bottle and feel free to drop in any Tuesday from June 12th to August 21st.

On Thursdays, join the fun and Friends of Fairview Park at 7pm for ice cream and the splash park! A full list of activities here
Zone Recreation Center Ribbon Cutting!

This Saturday, August 4th from 10:30am-4pm, Zone Recreation Center will celebrate their newly renovated outdoor facilities. Come check out the farmer's market, food trucks, 3-on-3 basketball, soccer, tennis, kick ball and more! Ceremony will begin at 11am.

Barbecue Open House at the Ohio City Farm!

 

 The Refugee Response invites you to a Farm Open House on August 5, 2012. Admission is FREE and there will be food, and tons of activities, plus a chance to check out the Ohio City Farm. For a full list of activities click here. It will be from 4-6pm Sunday, August 5th. The Ohio City Farm is located on the corner of Bridge Avenue and W. 24th Street. Everyone in the community is invited so bring your friends and family!

Cleveland Public Theatre's STEP Program presents Neverland!
 
The STEP Program will be presenting an original play Neverland at Fairview Park, Sunday August 5th at 4pm
 
A retelling of J. M. Barrie's classic Peter Pan, created and performed by the 2012 STEP ensemble, Neverland explores imagination, growing up and taking flight. This family-friendly show follows a group of lost youth who roam the city in search of themselves. Propelled by the power of storytelling and one brave girl, they embark on an imaginative journey confronting pirates, beguiling mermaids and their own potential for transformation. Packed with original music, dance and exciting action, Neverland is about the challenging call to find a place in the world. Come celebrate the power and creativity of Cleveland's youth!

National Night Out Against Crime
Come down to Steelyard Commons Tuesday, August 7th from 5pm - 9pm for the National Night Out Against Crime. Bring your friends neighbors and kids and enjoy free food and drinks, activities for the kids, and some fun for yourself. Don't miss this opportunity to DUNK a COP or watch some awesome live music. This event will be held in the Home Depot parking lot.
Magic Show in Novak Park

 

Come to Novak Park to see Zap and his Magic Thrill Show Wednesday, Aug. 8th at 6pm. Zap's Vaudeville Variety Show is filled with magic tricks, juggling, comedy, and much more. This interactive show is great for young children and fun for the whole family. Bring chairs or a blanket to enjoy the weather and a great show in Novak Park!

Loren Naji Studio Gallery and the Cleveland West Art League present "Tall Walls: Uninjured, Uncensored" with an opening Friday, August 3rd from 6pm-midnight. The exhibition runs through August 24th. Located at 2138 West 25th Street.

  

Neighborhood Family Practice will be opening a new office located at Franklin and West 65th. They will be hosting an opening celebration Tuesday, August 7th from 3pm-5pm. Ribbon cutting will take place at 4pm. Light refreshments will be provided.  

   

Seeking interested children for a fun dance class in Ohio City taught by dancers from Morrison Dance.

What: Dance class for boys and girls, ages 6-8/9 (1st-3rd grades)

When: Mondays, 4:30-5:30pm, September 10-December 17 (tentative dates)

Where: TBD 

How much: $10 per class, payable in advance for the entire session (13-15 Mondays depending on whether or not class would be held on Columbus Day and the day after Thanksgiving.)

Attire: t-shirt and shorts, leotard OK but not necessary.

Dog Days of SOHO will donate 10% of its sales from its Friday & Saturday lunches and Sunday brunches, from August through September to benefit Friends of Cleveland Kennel. This week at Carnegie West Library:

  • The Summer Reading Club will officially end on Friday, August 3rd. Children who turn in their completed reading logs by then will receive a pass for four to attend Cleveland Public Library's day at the zoo on Saturday, August 18th.
  • Lunch will be available in our meeting room Monday thru Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 to children 18 and under. Lunch is served on a first come, first served basis. Lunch will end Friday, August 3rd.
  • Home restorers, renovators, and remodelers will be especially interested to hear author Ron Tanner's humorous presentation on how he restored a Victorian home in Baltimore that was left in shambles by a fraternity. He will discuss his woes in dealing with lead paint, unreliable contractors, baby rats, and back injuries. His love for the house and his wife turned into a love story outlined in his book, From Animal House to Our House: A Love Story.  Meet the author in our meeting room Monday, August 6th at 5:00 p.m. Presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. The following links will provide more information on Mr. Tanner's book and presentation: here and here
Room Service's Danielle DeBoe will be hosting the second annual Roar Along the Shore party on the Goodtime III. The summer's best boating party will set sail August 24th from 9-11pm. Band line up includes: Cobra Verde, The Stereo Workers Union, The Jack Fords, Glass Cities, Ragers and LT: Mixtape Casanova. Tickets can be purchased here.

Cleveland Mediation Center is offering several new trainings this summer. Conflict situations occur frequently in daily, public and private life. They may occur on a small or large scale; within and among groups; and may be triggered by a variety of issues. CMC's trainings will help improve and reinforce skills to deal with, manage and resolve individual, community and group conflict. Offerings include "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace", "Conflict Resolution and Group Facilitation" and "Advanced Mediation Training".
