Advent Series: Socks and Underwear
At Christmas we often dream of receiving the "perfect" gift, but many of us have experienced the reality of Socks and Underwear. What if Christmas isn't about our expectations? What if Christmas isn't about what we get? Instead, Christmas is about what we give? What if we've been given is exactly what we need? Join us as we embrace the power of the true gifts of Christmas and their impact on our lives.
11/29 - An Unexpected Gift: The Gift of Hope
12/6 - Gift Cards: The Gift of Joy (Holy Communion)
12/13 - A Gift Returned: The Gift of Love (also "Undie Sunday" )
12/20 - A Gift Received: The Gift of Peace
12/24 - The Great Gift Giveaway (Christmas Eve)
In keeping with the theme of "Socks and Underwear," Sunday, December 13th, is designated as: "Undie Sunday." On that Sunday, we ask that you bring in a package of new socks or underwear. The socks will be added to our winter version of "Kits for the Homeless." Any remaining packages of socks, along with the packages of underwear, will be taken to Rising Hope and other places for distribution among people who are homeless.
Step out of the busyness of the season and prepare our hearts by studying God's promises of hope.

Worship Task Force Forming
As a part of the work we have been doing in understanding our mission field, its demographics, and how we best bless the people in our mission field (the area around our church), we are exploring the possibility of a different style of worship that would complement our existing traditional style. We will look at possibilities in its style, times of this worship service as well as the others, and even will explore a different day. This task force will be a working group. If you are interested, please know that you will be asked to:
- Attend at least 2 worship services of a different style in the Alexandria or Arlington districts and report on your findings.
- Become familiar with the demographics/psychographics/life-style trends of our mission field - information will be provided and discussed.
- Be in prayer for at least 10 minutes each day about our mission field and how God is calling us to be a blessing and to be open to the leading of God's spirit.
- Participate in the task force meetings. Date and time will be chosen by task force members.
The work and recommendations of this task force will then be presented to the congregation and church leaders for their input. If interested, please contact Pastor Linda at email@example.com
