Spring 2017

Hello everyone,

It's been a long time since I've sent out a newsletter - I've got a new project I'm very, very excited about!

As many of you know, for the past 14 years The Breathing Project has been my teaching home in NYC. The Breathing Project is ending its programming this summer, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to create the courses and workshops I'd dreamed of teaching, and to have a wonderful community of students and colleagues grow up around the questions we have explored together.

Now I am pouring my energy into Babies Project!

Since 2008 I have been certified as an IDME - an Infant Developmental Movement Educator - and worked with babies and their caregivers to apply principles from Body-Mind Centering to the process of learning to move in our first year of life. (And to teach all the grown-ups around them how to be with them in that process.)

I started a weekly babies group in 2008, other IDMEs joined me over the years, and in 2015 Sarah Barnaby and I created Babies Project.

Each week we offer two free sessions to babies and their caregivers - we see 25 or 30 babies a week, some of them every week for months at a time. (Since I began, more than 400 babies have come to these sessions.)

Now we want to expand what we offer to more populations, and we want to have a home base. So . . . we're fundraising. We've started a campaign through Indigogo's non-profit side Generosity, and our short-term goal is $75,000 by May 15.

I've been passionate about many different things that I think have the potential to profoundly change us as individuals, and through our own transformation, we can change the world.

This work with babies is important. This is where I think I can effect the most change in the world . . . one baby at a time. This is where I feel the most hope, and the most possibility.

We appreciate donations of all sizes, and they are tax-deductible. We'd love to make our goal through lots of little donations, and the power of community.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed - and many thanks to everyone who supports us, in all kinds of ways.

All my best,
Amy

PS - If you'd like to see a video of us at "work" in a Babies session, go to the campaign page - the video there gives a great sense of what we do! Also look at our website for some beautiful testimonials from parents about their experiences.
