CEO Forum
SCC's CEO

In CEO Forum, longtime Somerville resident and SCC CEO Danny LeBlanc shares his ideas, expertise, hopes and expectations for the City he cares about so deeply.

In his latest post, he writes about the declining number of children attending Somerville schools as the City becomes too expensive for families to remain here.

And he offers some strategies for helping families stay in Somerville.

Fall is here with warm days and crisp nights, with a quicker pace at work and in community activities, and with the city's children back in school.

In my post Back to School, I share that 2016 saw fewer children returning to the City's schools. Some of that reflects the smaller size of today's families, but some of the reduction results from the more unnatural forces of economic and housing markets that have made Somerville a more difficult place for families to survive economically. Read my post for ideas on how we can help families remain and thrive in Somerville.

You will also find information on the SCC Social Equity Campaign that provides a way to invest in SCC and get nearly 70% back in tax credits. And get updates on upcoming SCC workshops, the SCC video project, a report on our 2016 Annual Member Picnic, and more.

From all of us at SCC, thank you for your support.

The 2016 SCC Annual Summer Member Picnic brought at least 80 of our members and friends together from across the city to celebrate the many great wins in Somerville this year for SCC members and other low-, moderate-, and middle-income residents.

We shared information on a number of SCC initiatives.
But the emphasis of the evening was on fun, food and maintaining connections and friendships.   Read more
