Currently, the Planning & Development Department has 18 active projects. Once completed, approximately 408 jobs will be created or retained and will yield $75 million in capital investments.

 
Year to date, the Planning & Development Department has completed four projects, creating 269 jobs, totaling $2.1 million in capital investment the city.

Celebrate All Things Herbal this Mother's Day Weekend

Preparations are underway at the Ohio Herb Education Center in Gahanna for this week for Herb Day! This annual Mother's Day weekend event, will take place on  Saturday, May 13 from  9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Creekside Plaza, 117 Mill St.

Presented by Andrea Taylor, State Farm Agent, Herb Day is a one-day, annual celebration for all things herbal for the Gahanna community and the region. The celebration is a FREE educational event with speakers who will cover a variety of herbal topics.  In addition, the event will feature new and returning vendors selling plants and herb-based products.


Big Walnut Trail Section 4 Open House

The community is invited to attend an open house on Tuesday, May 30 from  - 7 p.m. at the Stonybrook United Methodist Church, 485 Cherry Bottom Road, Gahanna. 

The purpose of this public input meeting is to allow for comment on the proposed project for section 4 of the Big Walnut Trail.  Once completed, this trail will connect to section 5 of the Big Walnut Trail along Olde Ridenour Road to the existing Big Walnut Trail Section One, located on Nob Hill Drive.  


Explore the Friendship Bridge Through the 
New Story Trail
 
Gahanna Parks & Recreation will host a ribbon cutting celebration on Friday, May 26 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Friendship Park, 150 Oklahoma Avenue to mark the opening of the Story Trail.  This year's story, The Friendship Bridge, celebrates the beautiful of diversity as two young girls from different cultures meet on a bridge and forma a lasting friendship.

 Scholarships Available for Summer Camp

Each year, the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation and Gahanna Residents in Need (GRIN) provide scholarships for camp programs.  Gahanna students receiving free or reduced lunch are eligible for two weeks of camp scholarships to any of Gahanna's summer camps.  

Coffee with Council - May 18, 2017

The community is invited to attend Coffee with Council on Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Donatos, 1391 E. Johnstown Road.

Come meet your council members and participate in an informal discussion about your city.
 
Gahanna Art Spotlight - Wil Wong Yee
Display and Art Sale

Throughout the month of May artwork from Wil Wong Yee will be featured in the lobby and on the second floor of Gahanna City Hall (200 S. Hamilton Rd.) during normal business hours and is available for purchase.

Using spray paint, Sharpies and finger paint, Yee creates vibrant mixed media pieces depicting cityscapes, Columbus landmarks and local neighborhoods. Yee's work has been featured at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, in a Columbus College of Art & Design alumni art show and in an art exhibition at the Hayley Gallery.
 
Creekside Live Returns June 9th!

Bring your family, friends and coworkers for the summer concert series that has been rocking Gahanna's Creekside District since 2013 - Creekside Live, presented by Lew Griffin Insurance.

This summer, McGuffey Lane headlines our opening night with the Lee Gantt Duo opening Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m. at Creekside Plaza, 117 Mill St.
 
Enjoy new and returning bands, food and drinks while enjoying summer evenings in the park. Drink proceeds benefit the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation.
 

Help Protect Our Waterways Through Backyard Conservation

The public is invited to attend a FREE backyard conservation workshop on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse, 220 Olde Ridenour Rd, Gahanna 43230. The workshop will discuss urban stormwater, rainwater harvesting and infiltration and rebate options for backyard conservation practices.
Registration is required to attend this workshop.

The Creekside Blues & Jazz Fest Needs YOU

It takes many hands to put on Gahanna's largest signature event - and Visit Gahanna needs you! They are just weeks away from the 19th annual Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival ( June 16-18), and volunteers are needed to help showcase the city to 35,000+ visitors. Volunteers receive a festival T-shirt, admission wristband, water and snacks. Volunteer hours at the festival count for community service hours too! Volunteers are needed to work 4-hour shifts, assisting the Creekside Blues & Jazz Fest Committee in many areas including set-up, tear down, admissions and the Family Fun Zone. Music in the Park Returns to Gahanna
 
Gahanna's beloved live music tradition is back at Friendship Park,150 Oklahoma Avenue, beginning June 1 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

This community event was made possible thanks to Make Gahanna Yours, its main sponsor Toyota  Direct and other community partners. So bring your blanket and picnic basket, sit back, watch the kids enjoy the park while listening to music at the beautiful Friendship Park.

Free Community Produce Market
 
The Mid-Ohio Foodbank in partnership with the M.A.S.H. Pantry will host a FREE produce market every second Thursday each month from April through September from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the VFW Tri-Community Post 4719, 75 W. Johnstown Road.  

Free fresh food is available to local individuals and families in need. No appointment, pre-registration or paperwork is required.

Volunteers are needed for the produce market. For more information contact Post Commander Ernie Massie at 614.746.0331.
