Please help us welcome Herbert Sigüenza, Co-Founder of the groundbreaking Chicano comedy troupe Culture Clash, on Friday, May 11 @ 7pm, for the opening of his first solo art exhibit at the Centro.  Sigüenza, an accomplished graphic artist as well as comedic performer, began his artistic career as a visual artist in the 1980s as part of the San Francisco Mission District's vibrant creative community.  This exhibit will feature artwork which has never been exhibited in San Diego's.  Artist Herbert Sigüenza will be in attendance for the opening.  Wine generously provided by San Diego's own Barrio Logan Winery. Bring your friends. Free!    

Clara Futura Foundation Fundraiser

Help support the launch of the Clara Futura Foundation, whose mission is to provide affordable and quality 24 hr. childcare in an academic rich environment and summer school program and also to provide an open resource center for educational assistance, career planning, and counseling services.

 

Entertainment includes Hula & Tahitian Dancers and Live Bands. Plus workshops in youth self-defense, ukelele lessons and a photo booth.  Adults $10. Kids $5. Children under 3 yrs free.  Sat., May 12 @ from 4-8pm The Centro.

San Diego's Centro Cultural de la Raza was founded in 1970 as a Chicano Community Cultural Center and functions as an alternative space that encourages and facilitates artistic growth and cultural interchange in the San Diego/Tijuana region. The Centro provides classes and features a dynamic interdiscipinary schedule of events which includes exhibits, musical performances, installation art, readings, receptions, Azteca dance, Teatro Chican@, Ballet Folklorico, film screenings and other events.
