Child of God
By John Paul
Field Director in India
May 31st will always be a special day for our Elida family, as we celebrated the wedding of Paul and Anitha. When she was but a small child, Anitha was found crying in a trash can by the police on the main road running through Coimbatore. The police brought her to us and we raised her at the Elida Children’s Home in Coimbatore, India. Anitha had been affected mentally and emotionally, but through God’s grace she developed into a bright and intelligent girl. She completed nursing school, and even though she is a nurse, she desires to serve the Lord completely in all she does.
Anitha went with Preethi, our daughter, and her husband, Bala, to Delhi, the capital city of India, to minister as a missionary alongside of them. We feel like Anitha’s parents, and like all parents, we have prayed for a godly man for Anitha, someone who would be willing to do God’s work and be willing to move to Delhi. People do not like to move to Delhi; Delhi is the most polluted city in the world. However, our God is a prayer-answering God. He brought a nice young man, Paul, into Anitha’s life. Paul is from an Open Bible church in Sivakasi. God, once again, has answered our prayers as Paul was happy to serve the Lord alongside Anitha and move to Delhi. We were overjoyed to celebrate with them at their wedding.
After being married only two weeks, Paul and Anitha traveled to Delhi to serve the Lord together with Bala and Preethi. We glorify our Lord for helping us take care of Anitha all these years. It is true that “God raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to seat them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory” (1 Samuel 2:8). Anitha’s story reveals the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His purpose in her and at the Elida Children’s Home.

We thank God for the hundreds of lives saved and blessed through this great mission established here in Coimbatore by those who have prayed and supported this work of God.

What in the world is Global Missions up to?
One of our newest Open Bible works is in Cambodia. Cambodians suffered years of terrible civil war and endured the Killing Fields era.

Global Missions along with Lifesong Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, Iowa established the Lifesong Learning Center which has made a huge impact on this community. Hundreds of people have been saved through the ministry of the center.

One of Global Missions visions for the Lifesong Learning Center is to provide training to children and young people so that they don't fall into the trap of human trafficking, which is so prevalent in Cambodia.

Global Missions wants to provide these children and young people with hope and a future that will not only transform their lives but also the lives of their entire families.
Global Missions will equip the vocational training center located on the Lifesong Learning Center property with sewing machines, laptops, and other supplies which will allow Lifesong the ability to offer computer training and sewing classes.

Please help us Rescue the Children and Youth of Cambodia by giving to the 2018 Global Harvest Offering. Funds from this offering will enable us to equip the vocational training center which will enable the children and youth to find good jobs to support themselves and the Open Bible work there.

Reaching God's Children
By Andy*
Missionary in West Africa
Greetings in the wonderful Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your prayers for our ministry in West Africa. In January of 2018, we hosted four doctors, a nurse practitioner, three nurses, two pharmacists, and two dentists in a medical outreach to two needy communities – Naphtali* and Salem.* Naphtali* is not the real name, but rather a code name for this Muslim community. “The land of Zebulon and the land of Naphtali … the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned” Mathew 4:15-16.
The first day of the clinics went well despite a few logistical challenges. On a few occasions we had more than 200 people waiting to be seen. As I went out into the crowd, with them pressing in around me seeking a number to enter the clinic, I felt compassion for these needy people. The medical team did an amazing work of love, compassion, and service to the needy in these poor communities. They saw more than 1,500 patients in five days! The mayor, community leaders, and the people in these two communities would like us to return next year as many lives are being impacted through this ministry. Many seeds of the Gospel were sown in these two Muslim communities.

Later that same trip, I visited the Naphtali Nutrition and Education Project staff and office. While there, four brothers and I prayer walked around the neighborhood of Naphtali. Immediately after we returned and were visiting outside of the office, a veiled woman pulled up in her car and asked us in Arabic, “Where are you from?” We answered her. Then she said, “I noticed a difference in you and even though I am very busy today, I needed to stop and ask you what that is.” I responded, “What you see is the love of God. God loves you and He offers eternal life to all who trust in the Messiah.” After talking for a little longer, she thanked us and said it was a blessing to speak with us and drove off. The Spirit of God is at work in the hearts of the people in this community.
Through this Project, during the past two years, many mothers have learned vital health and moral lessons and have seen their malnourished child(ren) regain health and strength. The Project staff have done an incredible job through much love and hard work. We believe that one day in this community there will be a bountiful harvest of souls for God’s glory!

While at the Project, I met Sara.* She is a mother who brought her daughter to the Project as she had been ill. Sara shared, “My daughter was hospitalized two times recently and she was still sick when she was released. One of my neighbors told me that she learned how to care for her children from attending the Program. Since attending the nutrition sessions, my child has grown stronger, eats and sleeps well, and is no longer ill. I ask God to bless all those that work with this project.”
Many children’s lives are being changed through this project. The feedback that I receive from the health volunteers and mothers has been very encouraging. Pray with us that the veil that covers their hearts would be torn and the Gospel will penetrate and transform their hearts. Please continue to pray and partner with us, as we serve the needy in these Muslim communities in West Africa and share the love of Jesus Christ.
