Welcome to our newest alumnae class and to the summer alumnae newsletter!
We hope you like the new design and format. Most importantly, we hope that this newsletter serves to bring you good news about the Academy as well as provides opportunities for staying connected to your former classmates and friends.
The Academy has enjoyed a fabulous school year and we are now focusing on our summer projects. Namely, the demolition of the 10's building and construction of a new classroom building that will be connected to the current STEM Center in Benedictine Hall. We are all very excited and ask that you join us in prayer that all goes according to plan for the anticipated occupancy in August of 2019.
Enjoy your summer and remember to send us your good news - graduations, job changes, marriages, births, etc. We want to hear from you. Send your news to

A Touching Farewell for
Mrs. Cedor
On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, longtime teacher Mrs. Patrice Cedor was honored at a reception given to celebrate her retirement from the Academy. Pictured at left, Marli Doll Frees '06 affirms to Mrs. Cedor what she has meant to her and all those she has taught.
In Her Own Words - Mrs. Patrice Cedor
The moment has come. It is time for my official farewell to St. Scholastica Academy. I had thought I might teach until my 70th year, but instead, I feel that this year, my 68th birthday, is the right time. It seems somehow fitting that this year also marks the 50th anniversary of my graduation from Riverdale High School located on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Jefferson Parish.
On Wednesday, May 16, I was honored at a reception sponsored by SSA, where I have taught for 38 years. It was wonderful to see the faces of so many former students. Their kindness touched me deeply.
Many of them thanked me for the difference I had made in their lives as they developed from young girls to young adults. What many of them may not know is how thankful I am for having had the opportunity to get to know them and to teach them in such a blessed, Catholic environment. Truly, they were all special gifts to me.
In closing, I would like to cite a prayer shared with me by a former SSA religion teacher: "Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, [I] thank you for the companions you have sent me along the way -- fellow sojourners on my way back to you. Thank you for these special people who are rewards I did not earn, prizes I did not win, and blessings I do not deserve." To all of you, students and colleagues alike, thank you for the many blessings you have brought to my life.
St. Scholastica, teach us love. Amen.
