Here's a quick update on CDA area traffic impacts

CDA Area Roadwork Impacts Sept. 22, 2017

Greetings!

North Idaho drivers will encounter a number of road construction projects in the Coeur d’Alene area this summer. Projects will repair and replace deficient pavements and upgrade routes and signs. ITD and its partners will send updates via this newsletter periodically throughout construction to keep you apprised of work that may impact traffic.

I-90 Sherman Ave. to Blue Creek Bay Bridge

This week, construction will continue on the eastbound lanes of the highway. Work will occur during daytime hours, Monday through Saturday.

The Sherman Avenue eastbound on-ramp and the Mullan Trail eastbound on- and off-ramps will experience short closures at various times throughout the week. Please check 511.idaho.gov for status updates before using these ramps.

Motorists should anticipate increased travel times, speed reductions, and a crossover through the length of the project. The work zone speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and travel widths will be 12 feet with 16 feet of clear passage.

Please drive carefully and be aware of construction vehicles!

I-90, Northwest Boulevard to Sherman Avenue

Traffic remains on the eastbound side of Interstate 90, and is still reduced to one lane in each direction. Work zone crossovers are in effect for I-90 westbound, on- and off- ramps at 15 ^th Street, and the Sherman Avenue on-ramp. Construction continues on the westbound lanes of I-90 between 9th Street and Sherman.

The work zone speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through Coeur d’Alene.

A traffic switch will occur on Sunday, September 24 at 7 p.m. for I-90 traffic, between Sherman and 9 ^th, putting them in the westbound and eastbound outside lanes. By September 30, all traffic will be in standard configuration.

Motorists are required to yield to I-90 traffic when entering the freeway!

U.S. 95, Ironwood Drive Intersection

At the new Medina intersection on Ironwood Drive west of U.S. 95, paving is complete, but the intersection won’t fully open until the signal is installed in mid- to late-October. Left turns off of Medina are prohibited until then. Work will occur during daytime hours, Monday through Friday.

Paving is ongoing at the U.S. 95 Ironwood Intersection, and should be opening soon. Work will occur during daylight hours, Monday through Friday.

Avista is installing a new gas line along the north side of Ironwood. Work is expected to be during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with possible work on Saturdays.

This project will resurface U.S. 95, improve the intersections of Ironwood and Emma on U.S. 95, add turn lanes and improve signalization.

Seltice Way Revitalization

Concrete and asphalt demolition is complete on the north side, and grading continues.

Traffic will continue in one lane in each direction on the south side of Seltice. Roundabouts are partially operational to facilitate intersection traffic. Property access will be accommodated.

Active project work will occur during daylight, Monday through Friday. Work is scheduled through mid-summer 2018.
