Weekly Cornerstone Blog
on the New City Catechism

In an effort to make our year through the New City Catechism as fruitful and helpful as possible, some of our pastors and elders are writing a weekly blog to provide additional insights and explanation on the question for that week.

It includes the question and answer, the kids' answer, the accompanying memory verse, additional verses to consider on that question, some commentary on life application, and a connection to our church's statement of faith.

How to Study the Bible

3-part class on Sunday mornings:
Jan. 14th, 21st, & 28th
@ 8:45 am in Room 222

You know that God calls you to read, study, memorize and meditate on his Word.
But did you know that you can read it wrong?

Read it wrong and you'll come away with not only incorrect information, but maybe even deadly heresy! It happens all the time!  Don't be that guy or girl.

Taryl Jasper, one of Cornerstone's elders, will be teaching a  3-part class on  How to Study the Bible. Join us at  8:45 am on Sundays: Jan. 14, 21 and 28 in Room 222.

Marriage Conference

Part 2: Saturday, Feb. 24th, 6:00-9:00 pm

Somehow, some way, every marriage will become a struggle at times.

If you want to enjoy a beautiful, life-long relationship, you will need more than romance, and something deeper than shared interests and mutual attraction. You will need realistic expectations, radical commitments, and most importantly, you need grace.

In this life-changing  two-part livestream video event, Dr. David Paul Tripp (marriage counselor, award-winning author, and international conference speaker) will teach you how to develop a relationship of unity, understanding, and love.

Our Mission

Our mission as a church is very simple and it comes directly from Jesus. Jesus gave the Church her mission in the "Great Commission" in Matthew 28:19-20. It defines why we exist as a church:

To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ

Growth Groups: The winter session of our Growth Groups will begin next week. If you are not in a group or if you are switching groups, please sign up on the sheets at the rear of the Worship Center this Sunday. The next discussion questions are available on our website here. Contact Pastor Ed Fedor for more information.

Men's Breakfast: Our next gathering will be Saturday, Jan. 13th, at 8:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $4, boys up to 12 years are $1, first-timers are free. Our speaker will be Taryl Jasper, one of Cornerstone's elders.

Motherhood Connection: Moms of preschoolers, please join us as we discuss how Titus chapter 2 calls women to be pure. In our morally compromised world we can easily become desensitized to all of the impurity around us. Come and share in conversations about how we can live pure lives for the glory of God. The cost is $7, but first-timers are free. Contact Josie Leinbach with any questions.

Child Evangelism Fellowship training: Come and see what CEF has to offer through their Good News Club teacher training. These training sessions will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 6-9 pm and on Saturday, Jan. 27, from  9 am to 5 pm at Cornerstone. Both workshops are needed in order to serve with CEF. More information is available at the rear of the Worship Center.  Please contact Kathy Bavec to register.

Child dedications: We will be having child dedications during the worship service on Sunday, Jan. 21. If you are interested in having your child dedicated to the Lord, please contact the church office or sign up on the Sunday bulletin tear-off.

Skyview Ranch Mission Subzero retreat: Parents, mark your calendars: Mission Subzero for grades 4-6 will take place on March 2-4. The cost for each child is $99. Further information will be available in January. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift for a child! If you are interested in chaperoning for this fun overnight retreat, please contact Bobette Hatteberg.

Homeless Ministry: Join us every Saturday evening as we partner with True Freedom Ministries to feed the homeless and offer the hope of Jesus Christ. We meet at Cornerstone at 6:45 and travel downtown together. Contact Fred Bucci for more information.
