Boise High Student Selected to Perform: Through his work with the Opera Idaho Children's Choruses, Boise High School Sophomore Sam Fritz (pictured) has been selected to be the featured soloist with the Boise Master Chorale and the Boise Philharmonic at their October 5th and October 6th concerts.

Cynthia Mann Elementary Teacher Attends Space Camp: Cynthia Mann Elementary School 5th Grade Teacher Lisa Stitt (pictured) recently spent part of her summer at space camp. She participated in the Space Academy put on by Honeywell and sponsored by NASA. She's the only teacher from the Treasure Valley who made it in and one of only two teachers from Idaho to attend. It was a five-day camp held at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Capital High Educators Recognized: Capital High School Debate Instructor/Coach Kara Smith (pictured) has been selected to receive the National Speech & Debate Association's Distinguished Service Gold Key. This award recognizes debate coaches who selflessly serve the Association, from hosting and tabulating debate tournaments, to serving as a local district leader, to serving as an advocate for speech and debate.

Capital High School Chemistry Teacher Sharon Cates (pictured) has been recognized for recently serving as a facilitator for The POGIL Project's three-day Northwest Regional Workshop, held at the University of Puget Sound. POGIL is an acronym for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning. It is a student-centered, group-learning instructional strategy and philosophy developed through research on how students learn best. 

Alicia Estey, Maria Greeley & Troy Rohn Elected to Boise School Board: Alicia Estey, Maria Greeley and Troy Rohn (each pictured below) were elected to the Boise School Board during the Trustee Election held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Three seats were open on the seven-member Board of Trustees, each with a six-year term in office. Maria Greeley and Troy Rohn were running for re-election to their second term on the Board. Alicia Estey was seeking her first term on the Board. Estey, Greeley and Rohn will be installed as elected Board members during the September 10, 2018 Boise School Board meeting.
