October 14, 2016
Hello all,

Teams from ten Locals attended our Listening Project, Phase 2 workshop on Saturday, October 8th. They came from all over our Region, as you can see on the map below. Also pictured is Tracey Stockel and Nicole Anderson from Niagara working on their campaign timeline. By "campaign," we don't mean elections! Each team picked an issue to work on in their Local and brainstormed actions to reach their goal. Then they charted it out on a timeline. The Locals had lots of time to plan as well as interact and share ideas with the other teams. It was a long and busy and very productive day! Thanks for all your enthusiasm and commitment! You are the reason I like to get out of bed every morning and come to work. ;-)

IMPORTANT ELECTION UPDATE

Local Associations across NE Wisconsin will receive Election Kits to help alert members to the value of voting. The kits will have palm cards, in-building materials encouraging members to get out and vote, instructions regarding early voting, and other informational materials for members who still have questions about the best candidates for public education
and education jobs. Be watching for a contact from the Election Coordinators or your Region's Directors.

Remember, your students are counting on you to
V O T E!

Did you know? Employees working in schools who do not belong to a union are less likely to vote in an election. Please encourage your Local's potential members to vote. Whether or not they belong to a union, we are all in this together!

What's YOUR Best Story?

Join Us in Mishicot!

Mishicot EA has participated in WEAC Region 3's Listening Project and has developed an organizing plan to promote MEA in the community. On Saturday, October 15th, MEA will be participating in Mishicot's annual Pumpkinfest. MEA members will be sporting Association t-shirts and carrying a banner supporting MEA and public education. Proceeds from the t-shirt sale and other planned activities are being used to establish a college scholarship fund for Mishicot students.

Your members are invited to join Mishicot EA in the parade to support public education. The parade begins at noon. MEA members are meeting in the parking lot of OH Schultz Elementary school at 11:30. It may be easier to park in the middle school parking lot located on the east side of the school. From there, walk over through the fields and meet up with MEA in the parking lot.

If you have questions, please contact Scott Van Hefty at [email protected].
Thanks for all you do to support public education!
