M2K Student Spotlight
Before joining the M2K program, Terry attended a vocational technical school and worked in computer information technology. His life took a turn, and he viewed NCC's M2K program as an opportunity for a second chance.

"I enjoyed working on the CNC equipment. It was extremely beneficial to me," Terry said. "M2K prepared me for the workforce from start to finish. I came into the program not knowing how to read a micrometer... but now I can and I'm very appreciative of this opportunity."

In August, Terry accepted a machinist position at True Position, Inc. and will be starting the NTMA Apprenticeship Program in September. Congratulations Terry!
Donation Spotlight
A hearty thank you to Rich Leonhard, Chairman of Southwestern Industries, Inc. and his wife Marion for donating two CNC milling machines (TRAK K3 knee mills with ProtoTRAK KMX controls). This gracious donation allowed NCC to purchase a CNC lathe for the Training Innovation Center.

These machines enhance and strengthen NCC's training and capabilities for more student projects and opportunities.
M2K to RE2 Robotics & BotsIQ
Former M2K student Andre Swain is a machinist at RE2 Robotics . He completed M2K in 2015 and attained Level three.

By earning NIMS credentials and adding to his machining knowledge and skill set, Andre said, "New Century Careers helped establish myself as a 'real' machinist."

During the 2017-2018 school year, Andre stepped into the industry advisor role for Pittsburgh SciTech's BotsIQ team. "It's exciting for me to see the mindset and creativity these students have," he said. "I'm happy to give these young engineers a helping hand."

SWPA BotsIQ alum Garrett Santoline is a member of Team Huge on the TV Show BattleBots
Clairton High School graduate Garrett Santoline participated on his school's BotsIQ team from 2010-2013. Today, he's sharing his knowledge with the teams by serving as a safety inspector at BotsIQ competitions.

“I really enjoyed the push that combat robotics (BotsIQ) gave me to learn new skills such as design and fabrication,” Garrett said. “Before starting the program, I was always tinkering and fixing things, but I didn't have much experience with the design and fabrication. Learning to build robots really pushed me to develop those skills.”

BotsIQ prepared him for his participation on BattleBots, a robot combat television series. “BotsIQ first challenged me to acquire the fundamental knowledge needed to compete at a level like BattleBots. Without BotsIQ, I might not have experienced combat robotics,” he said.
