Clairton High School graduate Garrett Santoline participated on his school's BotsIQ team from 2010-2013. Today, he's sharing his knowledge with the teams by serving as a safety inspector at BotsIQ competitions.
“I really enjoyed the push that combat robotics (BotsIQ) gave me to learn new skills such as design and fabrication,” Garrett said. “Before starting the program, I was always tinkering and fixing things, but I didn't have much experience with the design and fabrication. Learning to build robots really pushed me to develop those skills.”
BotsIQ prepared him for his participation on BattleBots, a robot combat television series. “BotsIQ first challenged me to acquire the fundamental knowledge needed to compete at a level like BattleBots. Without BotsIQ, I might not have experienced combat robotics,” he said.
