The Division of Public Safety Invites you to National Night Out
|
|
National Night Out,
a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, will be held on
Tuesday
August 7
, and will feature a Police vs. Fire Department softball game, among other free festivities. This annual community night is run in conjunction with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.
The Fire Department is currently in the process of inspecting all multiple dwelling units throughout the Township, to ensure all buildings are in compliance with health codes.
Two inspectors are in the Fire Pre
vention Bureau on a full-time basis, using records from the Township's tax department to contact owners of 2+ family units, sending them letters in the mail and hand-delivering notices that the Fire Department needs to check on their properties. Owners not in compliance will be fined and penalized. If tenants or owners have any questions about the Certificate of Habitability, they can call the Fire Prevention Bureau at
973-680-5150
and talk to Theresa Addeo.
The Fire Department is also helping families install certified child safety car seats, free of charge. Call the Fire Department at
973-680-4160
any time for assistance.
The Bloomfield Fire Department is proud to announce
Louis Venezia has been sworn in as Fire Chief
,
after long-tenured Chief Joseph McCarthy's retirement. During the ceremony, several other Bloomfield Fire Department personnel were sworn in to new positions, and seven new Bloomfield Police Officers were sworn in.
Bloomfield Community Policing Officers want to host a private pizza party for you and your child.

Council Meetings, New Facebook Page, Website and Mobile App
|
|
The Bloomfield Council will meet only once in August, a hybrid regular and conference meeting on
August 20,
in Room 205 of the Law Enforcement Building at 6:30pm, and then 7:00pm.
In May, the Township held a
public forum where residents provided feedback on how you want the Township to improve communications. That led to the Township developing a
Facebook page dedicated to keeping updates from all municipal departments in one place.

In fact, adopting biking and walking into your lifestyle could be the catalyst that makes you feel healthier and happier. Our streets can also be reimagined. Open a dialogue with your councilperson on how to make your neighborhood more comfortable to get around without a car (check out “
Complete Streets”).
