“
Many London-area leaders are great communicators
”, says IABC President Anthea Rowe. “
We want to recognize those leaders who demonstrate best practices in communications and who also value the communications function in their organizations.
”
This prestigious award, introduced in 2017, recognizes an individual who exemplifies excellence in communications. Whether involved in the private, public or not-for-profit sector, the recipient of this award will have made significant contributions to business communications by fostering, initiating and/or participating in effective and successful communications programs. IABC members and non-members are eligible to be nominated.
Nominations are being accepted until April 20, 2018. Eligibility criteria and nominations forms can be found
online
.
The award will be presented at the annual Virtuoso Awards Celebration event being held on May 31, 2018. In 2017, the first IABC London Outstanding Communicator Award recognized
Andrew McClenaghan
, President of Digital Echidna for his passion and commitment to fostering a culture of communication within his organization.
IABC London joins many other IABC Chapters in Canada that also recognize individual achievement, including the IABC Toronto Communicator of the Year Award, the IABC Regina Executive Communicator of the Year Award and British Columbia IABC’s Wave Awards. Book Giveaway: Congrats, Stephanie Winterton!

In December, we promised a free book to a reader who commented on president Anthea Rowe's article "
Communicators in Crisis
."
One reader commented on the role IABC can play in helping communicators navigate the stress associated with our roles: "There is strength and confidence in numbers. One of the underlying benefits of IABC is the opportunity for us to share our experiences, to commiserate, as well as recognize possibilities to advance that which we are charged to communicate."
Others shared tips for coping with work-related stress, including deleting Facebook from our phones and "letting the right things get dropped." Readers shared suggestions of helpful books for stressed-out multi-taskers, such as
Essentialism
by Greg McKeown.
Congratulations to Stephanie for her winning comment. Stephanie receives a copy of
The Confidence Code
by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman.
