Internship Applications Due Tomorrow

The American Hereford Association (AHA) is offering several opportunities this summer for college students hoping to further their education and gain valuable real-world experience working with a breed association.

They are a communications internship, junior activities internship and JNHE ambassador positions. Also, new this year is a production coordinator position. Log on to Hereford.org for details and how to apply.

Applications for the junior and communication internships are due Feb. 15 and the production internship Feb. 25. Ambassador applications are due March 15.


April Hereford World Deadline is Feb. 25

The deadline for all ad materials for the April Hereford World is Feb. 25. For questions or to advertise, contact Alison Marx at 816-842-3757.


Records Department March 1 Deadlines

  • March 1 is the final date to nominate sires for spring breeding in the National Reference Sire Program.
  • March 1 is the deadline to complete and return spring herd inventories without an additional $2 per head surcharge on every female maintained on the spring inventory.


Scholarship Applications due April 1

April 1 is the deadline to submit applications for scholarships and awards given during the Junior National Hereford Expo. Apply online at JrHereford.org.


Sullivan Supply/Stock Show University Scholarship Applications due March 15

Sullivan Supply and Stock Show U are offering 20 Scholarships worth $1,000 to youth involved in the livestock industry. Application deadline is March 15. Apply on Sullivan Supply’s website. Winners will be announced on April 15.


GE-EPD Results Update

If you want genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs) be sure to allow for plenty of time for the lab to get the results to you. Do not wait until the last minute. It takes a minimum of SIX weeks to get results after the lab acknowledges the sample, not when it arrives at GeneSeek.


Junior AI Program Discontinued

The Junior AI Program has been discontinued, but those offspring born from program semen will still be eligible to show at the 2014 and 2015 Junior National Hereford Expos.


AHA Announces Spring 2014 EPDs

AHA has released the updated EPDs for spring 2014. Producers can visit Hereford.org to look up the new EPDs and download updated Trends, Traits and Distributions reports.
