COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN DISASTER

The COAD is continuing to meet weekly via Zoom, addressing the growing unmet needs for residents in Hernando County.
- United Way has donated and distributed 100 masks to organizations who are still hard at work serving the most vulnerable and at need, through a no-contact, drive-by method. (Pictured: Dawn Center shelter workers).
- Individuals filing for "Reemployment Assistance Benefits" (unemployment) are asked to please have patience, as the systems are overwhelmed with requests. For guidance with filing, contact CareerSource, or Reps. Blaise Ingoglia or Wilton Simpson's offices.

MENTAL HEALTH
- NAMI Hernando is continuing to offer support groups and services online and over the phone to those struggling with mental health during the pandemic crisis. Call 352-684-0004 or visit NAMI's Facebook for more information.
- Many parents are struggling to juggle work, parenting and now suddenly homeschooling their children during the wake of the pandemic. Dr. Andrea Guastello, a psychologist from UF Health, provides some tips to help parents through these challenging times. Watch the video here.

Community Organizations Active in Disaster
|
Hernando County Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) is a group of organizations that bring together community, government, faith-based organizations, businesses, and volunteers committed to enhancing the community's ability to mitigate against, prepare for, and recover from disasters. This will be achieved through coordination and collaboration of member organizations.
As of 3/23, a Zoom Partners meeting will take place every Monday at 9:30AM.
