Washington County Heroin Task Force
Hosts Narcan Training
Narcan/Naloxone training will be conducted during the Washington County Heroin Task Force meeting, Thursday, January 19 at 9 a.m. at the West Bend Public Agency Center, 333 E. Washington Street.
The training, presented by the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, will educate on how to administer the life-saving drug in the event of a drug overdose.
Narcan is the brand name for naloxone, an opioid antagonist medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. When somebody overdoses on an opioid drug like heroin or prescription painkillers, the drug depresses the respiratory and central nervous systems, disrupting breathing and potentially leading to death.
