Sunday School News
September 10: Rally Day is NEXT WEEK! (YEAY!) And it's the first day of Sunday School of our 2017-2018 program year! All are welcome!
Backpack Blessing: It's that time again - Back to School! Begin the year with a blessing. Bring in your school backpack, bag, tote, briefcase, carryall, knapsack, etc. -- and we'll bless new beginnings, new projects, and YOU! All ages are encouraged to participate.
Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader Commissioning:
Next Sunday, as we begin our program year we commission and send forth our dedicated Sunday School Teachers and Youth Leaders. Entrusting them with a sacred task - spiritual and faith formation - these women and men share their faith with honesty, nurture friendships and community among our children, and witness to the love of God in Jesus Christ. They do so not because they are theological experts, but because they care deeply about the church of today -- our youth.
ISO Sunday School Teachers: Share the Good News!
Our Sunday School teaching teams are praying for a few willing souls to come forward this year.
Especially if your child is in Sunday School, consider teaching Sunday School as we rely on parent participation most heavily. Teaching tools, training, and support provided! Please contact Lesley Pella-Woo for more info on what is involved. And remember, you never walk alone!
The nursery will be open during worship
f
or children 6 mo. - 4 years old.

Donation of School Supplies
Tracey Tsai visited Jackzil in March 2015, there were no school supplies in any of the classrooms and teachers used small pieces of chalk for teaching. With the help of Greenacres, Quaker Ridge and Hitchcock Church we have been able to change that sad reality to a new one.
We are collecting leftover and new school supplies for Haiti for the fall. Please put them in the collection bins opposite the elevators. Any supplies that your children have brought home and they do not want to keep please put them in the bins.
Items can be gently used or new.

Thrift
Monday Mornings
Every Monday morning, the Thrift Shop is open from 10 AM until 12:30 PM! Why not stop by and browse the racks of clothing for all ages, handbags, lovely china and glassware, toys and much, much more? We also hold two big Tag Sales a year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
The profits from the sale of merchandise are given out to organizations that support women and children, both here and abroad. At our Fall Happening we raised $4,200, which we divided between Midnight Run and El Centro Hispano. Just from our Monday Morning operations we were able to write two checks, each for $1000, to Beyond Borders and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Beyond Borders is on the ground in Haiti helping villages rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew. PDA is working with communities in the southeastern United States as they too rebuild after Matthew.
So, please visit the shop - you will find bargains and treasures - and help support a very important mission of PW. And if you would like to get involved, we are ALWAYS looking for extra hands to help sort and price - just show up and we will put you to work!! SEE YOU ON MONDAY MORNING!
