Hitchcock Restaurant and Deli Newsletter
Issue VI
June 2012
 Dear Friends,

June is always an exciting month in the Northwest, and even more so in a farm-to-table restaurant.  All of the tiny green sprouts of spring are becoming beautiful produce, summer mushrooms are picking up, and the first fruits of the summer (cherries, strawberries) become sweet in the fleeting sunshine.

We're excited for our FareStart Guest Chef Night on Summer Solstice, warm & starry nights on the ferry, and sunny evenings dining on our new sidewalk seating.

From here on out, it's a celebration all the way until harvest.  Please join us!

Cheers,
Brendan

Summer in Full Swing at Hitchcock Deli

Outdoor seating at Hitchcock Deli

We've arrived at the months of summer picnics and our deli has what you need to put together the perfect basket. Come by for our sandwiches, pastries, and new summer salads.

Better yet, enjoy your meal at our new outdoor seating area, a beautiful wood table custom built for us by our friend Trevor at NW Woodworks. Our new beer and wine license and off premise approval came just in time for summer. You can now enjoy your meal at the deli with a cold beer or a glass of wine!

Cultivating Cabbage at Laughing Crow Farm

A horse drawn carriage or plow is part of the every day landscape at Laughing Crow Farm, where Betsey Wittick practices horse farming as an alternative to using diesel tractors. We've enjoyed having Laughing Crow's cabbage, potatoes, and French grey shallots on our menu.

Recently, we got the e-mail we've been waiting for, the one from Betsey announcing that her garlic scapes are in.
We're serving up the first batch of the season at the restaurant this month.

Betsey's Laughing Crow Farm is located on Day Road on Bainbridge Island
.
You can find its garlic scapes and other produce  every Saturday at the Bainbridge Island Farmers' Market.
