Active Minds at Hofstra Weekly Meetings Thursdays 8 PM Room 145, Student Center
Active Minds at Hofstra aspires to break the stereotypes and stigmas associated with Mental Illnesses. Our goal is to spread awareness on college campuses about the stressors that can potentially develop into psychological disorders. Many people do not realize that 1 in 4 students can develop a psychological disorder and they can go untreated because they do not know about their disorder. If untreated the disorders can become problematic for them in the future. Active Minds is not restricted to Psychology Majors and welcomes anyone because of its overall message to spread awareness. For more information, visit our national website: www.activeminds.org
She's The First Meeting Thursday December 8, 6:30 PM Plaza Room Middle
She's the First is a not-for-profit that sponsors girls' education in the developing world. We encourage young people to creatively fundraise for girls' sponsorships with their online and offline social networks. For sponsors, She's the First provides community, leadership opportunities, and a sense of global citizenship. For underprivileged girls, the impact of a sponsorship is life-changing: Most will be the first in their families to graduate.
