11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. When the father "DIVIDED" his TREASURE, he "DIVIDED" it EQUALLY and gave to BOTH sons-at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID YOU GET THAT????? It was NOT that the "prodigal son" received his inheritance, his portion first and the older son was left longing and waiting on his portion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That revelation was shared with me by Pastor Jerry Stewart as we drove to Jasper, GA. to have lunch with Pastors Bill and Carol Mantell of Christian Cyber Ministries. We had a grand time last Wednesday as I witnessed "FIRE IN THE HOLE," the planting and erecting of a Cross at THE GOSPEL OUTREACH CHURCH OF NORTH GA. It was Cross number 86 in Pastor Bill and Carol's effort to plant Crosses in every state and country on this earth. I was joined there in service by Pastors Roger Bilbrey and Michael Smith. Roger pastors THE VIRTUAL GOSPEL OUTREACH CHURCH and Michael pastors THE GOSPEL OUTREACH CHURCH OF SOUTH GA. Fred Windham of Vitronix Television also attended. Fred was a key founder in the local Christian television station, Channel 57, and produced Christian television for over 40 years!!! Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Today's message on FATHERS DAY is to remind YOU WEARY DADS to NEVER give up on wayward children!!! SMILE! Just when THEY think THEY are out, God CAN and WILL and DOES "pull them back in!" Pastor Bill spoke that night on HOW God got his "attention." 71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. Most of the sermons and teachings I have ever heard concerned the YOUNGER son-YES, that terrible PRODIGAL one. But what about that "good" son-that one that stayed home and did NOT waste "his substance with RIOTOUS LIVING????" Luke 15:13 (KJV)
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. WHAT DID HE DO WITH HIS PORTION??????????????????? The Bible never tell us HIS Story but it is safe to say he never lacked! Luke 15:31 (KJV)
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. The elder son's TREASURE was never squandered or wasted nor diminished by his younger brother's foolishness. The entire time the younger/PRODIGAL son was living life RIOTOUSLY, the elder brother was basking in the GOODNESS of the Father: "THOU ART EVER WITH ME, AND ALL THAT I HAVE IS THINE!!" The SIN, the PROBLEM the elder brother struggled with was his PERCEPTION!!! He did not realize, he failed to recognize the FACT that he was "sitting on a gold mine" the whole time!! He OWNED his Father's treasure yet never utilized his BLESSINGS! Perhaps the younger son's homecoming awoke the elder brother and caused him to realize what he already had!!?? HOLD ON MY CHILD-JOY COMES IN THE MORNING!!! If WE fathers will just "KEEP ON HOLDING ON" long enough OUR sons and daughters WILL "come to themselves." Luke 15:17 (KJV)
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! THEY WILL realize that THEIR Father HAS "bread enough and to spare!!!" THEY WILL "SEE" THEIR BLESSING!!! It was THERE all the time!!!
