Holder Bedding $2,500 Match Program
LUM has a NEW sponsor in our annual " $2,500 Match Program" — Holder Bedding Inc. of Lafayette. This is an exciting new partnership because Holder Bedding is a local business and is also the preferred mattress of the LUM Emergency Shelter.

In 2013, 42 mattresses were made in Lafayette by Holder Bedding and installed at the LUM Emergency Shelter.

Please take advantage of this unique opportunity to "double your donation" to LUM and increase your impact on strengthening local families thanks to the generosity of Holder Bedding Inc. It's simple — click the button below, make a donation by December 1, and Holder Bedding will match it.

LUM is very fortunate and sincerely grateful to have this support from Holder Bedding. Holder Bedding Inc. is a local, family owned and operated business in Lafayette providing employment opportunities in our community since 1947. LUM encourages you to shop at Holder Bedding for your next mattresses.
LUM Thanksgiving Events - 2017 Recap
Community Thanksgiving Celebration Serves 800+
Yesterday, for the 31st consecutive year, Lafayette Urban Ministry hosted the Community Thanksgiving Celebration. The event was free, open to the public and included a Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m. with special guests, State Representative Sheila Klinker and West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis, and live entertainment from West Lafayette High School and more. More than 800 meals were served, which included 75 turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls and 112 pies. It was a grand celebration for the community. To view photos from the event, click HERE.

Special thanks to First Christian Church for most of the turkeys, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for most of the pies, Central Presbyterian for the beautiful facility, our major donors - Denny’s Body Shop, Lafayette Auto Supply, Lafayette Retina Clinic, Wabash National, Phronesis, and Soller-Baker Funeral Homes — as well as Great Harvest Bread Company, Jane's Gourmet Deli & Catering, Kentucky Fried Chicken, MCL Cafeteria & Bakery, McAlister's Deli, Oliverio’s Southland Restaurant, and Texas Roadhouse for the donations of food. Additional thanks to the students enrolled at the LUM After School Program, St. Boniface School and St. Mary Cathedral School for creating all of the table decorations and placemats.

Turkey Trot 5K Run 2017 Raises $20,000
The annual Turkey Trot 5K Run was exciting as well as successful. Turkey Trot once again attracted fun people willing to arrive before sunrise and run or walk a 5K on a brisk Thanksgiving morning.

A lot of our participants were in costume or wearing a turkey hat, and many arrived with their entire family including their dogs. Turkey Trot participants shared that they love to turn a day of eating into a day of fitness too. To view the race results, click HERE. To view photos from the event, click HERE.

The event was also a successful fundraiser for all of the programs and services offered by LUM. It is still early but Turkey Trot 2017 is on track to raise over $20,000. Thanks to all of our participants and event sponsors. If you were not able to participate and would like to give, click the donate button below.
Jubilee Christmas Countdown = 14 Days
Jubilee Christmas Needs Volunteer "Elves" & Toys
Volunteers elves are needed for Jubilee Christmas part 2 and part 3 on Saturday afternoon, December 9. If you would like to host a family and assist them in shopping for their children, please sign up. PLEASE also SHARE this with others.

To be successful, Jubilee Christmas also relies on donations from churches, organizations and individuals. You can help by donating a cash gift of $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more to Jubilee Christmas. Your cash gift to Jubilee Christmas may be given in honor of a friend or family member — in lieu of a holiday gift. LUM will send a Holiday Card sharing that a donation has been made by you to Jubilee Christmas in their name.
Jubilee Christmas donations of new, unwrapped toys, clothing (newborn to 12-year-old), books, games, sports equipment, quilts/family blankets are welcome. See below for our list of needs and donation centers.
