Ave Law Community and Veterans gather for the Veterans Memorial Law Library dedication event on December 7.

Hello Friends,

As we celebrate our Savior's birth, may all the joys of Christmas fill your heart with peace and happiness. It's a great opportunity to reflect on our school's unique mission and community. Together, we always strive to instill morals and ethics in our everyday lives and in our program of legal education.

Our law library dedication ceremony this month was a tremendous success and we are thankful to all of those involved, helping us reach our goal of making Ave Law the best law school for veterans.

We are planning for a busy 2017 ahead with inspiring special guest speakers, like Dr. Charles Krauthammer, student events, and quality time spent with each other.

January will kick-off with our passion behind the pro-life movement through the March for Life Walks in Washington D.C. and Naples.

For now, each one of you are in my prayers and I wish you and your families a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2017.

God Bless,

Kevin Cieply
President and Dean

Veterans Memorial Law Library  Dedication Event

Guests honor the National Anthem

Sean Lux '18, Founder Tom Monaghan, Most Reverend Frank J. Dewane, Dean Cieply and Admiral Henry F. White, Jr.

On December 7, we honored our veterans by renaming our law library the Veterans Memorial Law Library to ensure that those who fought for us and protected our freedoms are never forgotten. It was especially significant for us to dedicate and bless the library on the 75 th  Anniversary of the Remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day.

We also unveiled our new "Veterans Wall of Honor" at the dedication, a permanent display in the Veterans Memorial Law Library entry hall. On this wall the names of our nation's fallen heroes, veterans and those currently serving the armed forces will be prominently displayed as a lasting legacy.

The Collier County Sheriff's Honor Guard conducted the Presentation of Colors at the dedication, followed by a blessing and dedication by Most Reverend Frank J. Dewane, Bishop of the Diocese of Venice. Our special guest speakers included our Chairman of the Board and Founder Tom Monaghan, Admiral Henry F. White, Jr., Rear USN (Ret.), Former Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the American Bar Association and a member of the Board of Governors of Ave Law, and Sean Lux, a member of the Class of 2018, U.S. Air Force Veteran and Co-Founder of the Collier County Honor Flight. The Ladies for Liberty singing troupe joined us for our memorable day.

I would like to take this time to thank each and every one of our Founding Members who have donated to our library, and to those who have donated to the Veterans Wall of Honor. We are most grateful and blessed to have you as a part of our community.

"Can You Honor A Veteran?" Please consider making a donation to the Founding Members Naming Program and Veterans Wall of Honor initiative. For more information, please contact Sharon Sparrow, Leadership Gifts Officer, at 239-687-5344 or ssparrow@avemarialaw.edu.

From Ann Arbor to Naples:  Tar Paper Shack South
On Sunday, December 4, we hosted our second annual Tar Paper Shack South event in Naples at The Ritz-Carlton Beach Resort. We began our evening by attending Mass conducted by Monsignor McGrath in the hotel's Estuary Room, followed by an enjoyable, intimate setting in the Beach House. We dined with our dedicated friends and supporters of Ave Law over a rustic, beachside dining experience keeping the Tar Paper Shack tradition, begun by our Founder in Ann Arbor, Michigan alive. All proceeds benefit the Thomas S. Monaghan Scholarship for Ave Maria School of Law.
