The DREAM Holiday Campaign

Once a year, we reach out to all of our DREAMers in hopes that you will share some holiday joy with the children we serve. This year, we are asking for books, a one time gift or a re-occurring monthly donation. As always, 100% of these donations go directly to the more than 8,000 DREAM youth. Please take a moment and give the gift of education this holiday!
A New Start

Our DREAM is that every youth in the Dominican Republic has the opportunity to complete a secondary education. The purpose of the school re-enrollment program is to engage young people who have stopped attending school because of lack of documentation, motivation, or resources. The program focuses on re-enrolling students in public schools, supporting them with documentation and providing them the tools to be successful after spending time outside of the school system. We have already re-enrolled five students this fall from the community of La Union and hope to expand that number to 50 in 2018.
LitClubs Empower DREAM Girls

We are thrilled to share what more than 60 girls in DREAM communities are doing through their love of reading! They are participating in LitClubs: an evironment full of  learning, creative expression, community building, and developing social-emotional skills.  This innovative approach developed by LitWorld to improve literacy by creating fun experiences that lead to  economic independence, gender equity and a pathway out of poverty.  Come, read with us and our girls in Cabarete, La Cienaga and Abreu!
The Tom Whitehead Bent Putter Charity Golf Tournament, Another S uccess!

In celebration of the life of Tom Whitehead and his work in our community, DREAM was proud to be one of three charities supported by this year's tournament. This is a day of fun, bringing golfers from Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata together with players from all over the world to raise funds and awareness. Thanks again to all our golfers and auction winners, it was our best year yet!
Start Your Future!

The 4th National Entrepreneurship Fair, sponsored by Alerta Joven and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), took place earlier this month. During the event, three young DREAM graduates from the program Emprende Tu Futuro (Start Your Future) presented their business ideas to the judges: #Fotonet a social company that offers technology services to low-income people and Quesos Burgos, a new initiative using goat milk instead of the more traditional dairy options. John Presimé, Franchezca Gil and Yuleisy Liriano, representing the North Coast, competed with more than 20 proposals that were presented at the fair, receiving cash prizes of $14,000RD up $18,000RD, to invest in the growth of their entrepreneurial ideas.
How do We Support Teachers?
Start with the Newest

Our teacher training program, FUTUROS, equips education majors in university with the tools and strategies necessary to provide quality education in public schools once they graduate. This semester we have five talented FUTUROS interns who are eager to learn and show passion towards creating opportunities for all children. If you are studying education, this is your opportunity to participate in our 4-month internship, learning new techniques and teaching methods focused on reading and math as well as participating in our classroom management workshops and reading clubs. DREAMer of the Month
Rebeca Martinez

Rebeca Martinez, DREAM's all-star Academic Director, has focused on early grade reading in our high quality basic education programs, introducing proven strategies that improve the reading and critical thinking of children in the seven public schools that we work in. She has trained public school teachers, education student teachers, run seven academic summer camps simultaneously in all corners of the country. She is a true inspiration! After 5 years at The DREAM Project, we wish her well as she transitions back to the United States to work with the Early Grade Reading Team at Dexis working with USAID.
