New Laptops for Female Soldiers
|
On March 19,
Connecticut Junior Women (CJW) invited us to attend the club's annual President's Appreciation Brunch. They were pleased to hear about everything the women in our
Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes program have accomplished since we last met in the fall: new jobs, new homes, and new educational and therapeutic opportunities.
Following our update, CJW's clubs made generous in-kind donations to
FS:FH, including housewarming baskets, personal care products, food, household goods, and more.
Before breaking for brunch, CJW also announced that they have chosen to sponsor new laptops for the Nicholas A. Madaras House. Our existing computers are showing their age, making it difficult for the women to effectively look for work, complete school assignments, find housing, and stay in touch with loved ones. These new laptops will certainly help our residents achieve their goals.
Four new computers have been ordered and are en route! We promise to share photos once they are up and running.
Thank you, Connecticut Junior Women!

Dinner with Friends

Thank you to all of our friends who prepared and served such thoughtful meals to our residents in March. We appreciate your company and care more than you know!
|
Congregation B'nai Israel knocked our socks off with their restaurant-style Sunday Brunch. After enjoying the delicious spread, we shared stories, talents, and lots of laughs.

Giving Back
|
Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes program with a $2,500 grant. This generous gift will help us empower homeless female Veterans to regain and maintain their independence.
We are pleased to announce that a $10,000 grant from People's United Community Foundation will support the House Monitor/Community Outreach position for our Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes program. In addition to keeping our current residents safe and comfortable, this position enables us to identify and serve female Veterans with whom we may not have connected otherwise.
