Honored.  Humble.  Resolute.  Ready.

That's how I felt when the first returns came in on Election night.  We won the first precinct that was reported.  Then the second.  Then the third. When the voting location where I shook hands with voters all day long reported with my widest victory margin, it looked like it was possible.

The voters in the 85th District had selected me to serve as their Delegate in the Virginia General Assembly.

It was a huge victory, winning by 13 percentage points and earning support from Republicans, Democrats and Independents across the district.  As I had said throughout the campaign, we truly were and are, in this together.

And we did it with a general election campaign focused on issues people care about without any negative "attack ads" - ours was a positive campaign, and voters responded.

I am honored to represent them.  I am humbled by their trust and confidence.  I am resolute to lead with distinction.  And I am ready to take the oath to serve.

It wouldn't have happened without you.  Without your time, your financial commitments, your prayers and your support, we certainly couldn't have run the campaign we wanted and that the voters deserve.

We are now working on the transition and the schedule is busy already.  I am working on some draft legislation for the upcoming session and meeting with colleagues throughout the Commonwealth.

And I ask for your support.  Our campaign still has some expenses which will be coming due and we know the Democratic Party won't take their defeat lightly.  Our Re-election efforts must not wait until 2015, and I need to count on your early support to fend them off.

As we approach Thanksgiving time, I know how thankful I am for the opportunities America and Virginia have provided, and how thankful I am that I have supporters like you who helped make this election victory a reality.

Thank you always,

Scott Taylor
