Kamm's Corners Farmers Market Opens Outdoors Sunday, June 8

Be sure to stop by the municipal parking lot behind Walgreens at West 168th Street and Lorain Avenue on Sunday, June 8, for the first outdoor Kamm's Corners Farmers Market of the season. New hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to fresh produce from more than 30 vendors, enjoy live music by local favorite Jeff Sherman on opening day. Our featured chef demo will be from the celebrated "farm to table" restaurant, AMP 150, starting at 11:30 a.m. To help kick-off opening day, Yesteryear Horse & Carriage, sponsored by the West Park Kiwanis Club, will offer horse-drawn wagon rides for only $1 per person.

The popular, free perennial exchange takes place on June 15 and October 5. Simply dig and bring some perennial plants or flowers to share or trade. No selling. This is all free! For more information, call market manager Bill Markowitz at 216-252-6559, ext. 1400 or email him at kcfarmersmarket@gmail.com.

Due to accidental double booking of the hall, there is NO indoor market on May 18 at the Cretan Party Center.
Asphalt Cinema Adds New Fun for Season 12
With the help of a master facilitator of fun, fresh new activities will take place as the sun goes down this year for our free movie under the stars. At 7 p.m., learn new dance steps, keep the beat with a rhythmic instrument, sing songs, paint self-portraits or characters from the film -- and more! These activities replace the live band to better engage everyone. Local merchants will again provide games with prizes and concessions will be offered by Four Corners Baseball. These start at 6:30 p.m. The movie starts at dusk.

Plan to join us on the third Friday of June, July, and August at Impett Park, 3207 West 153rd Street. Coming movie attractions:

37th Annual Town Meeting Is June 25

You are invited to join with your neighbors and friends for our 37th Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday, June 25, at River's Edge. Sign-in starts at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. program. This is our second year in a row at River's Edge, which is right next door to St. Joseph Academy. The parking entrance is just north of the academy's driveway.

Speakers include Ward 17 Councilman Marty Keane and KCDC Executive Director Steve Lorenz. Both will provide updates on current neighborhood projects. Display tables from local nonprofit agencies, a spontaneous raffle from local merchants, and refreshments make this a fun event, celebrating life in West Park.

Rocky River Drive Repairs To Begin in July

Plans are now underway to make improvements to Rocky River Drive from Brookpark Road to Munn Road, starting in July with target completion by October. The improvements include pavement base repair and resurfacing from Brookpark Road to Homeway Avenue, approximately 0.6 miles. Improvements from Homeway Avenue to Munn Road will include full depth removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete slabs for approximately 2.5 miles. The cost estimate is $2 million.

Regarding this vital improvement, Councilman Marty Keane said, "We in the community would like to thank the administration for their efforts. Federal, state, and local partners were able to navigate the channels to get the job done!"

We want to thank Councilman Keane for his part in securing this emergency funding!
