Finding God in the Tough Stuff | Where is God When I Feel Lost? | Proverbs 3:5-7
Happy Friday Hope!
This weekend we're coming to the end of a three-week sermon series called
Finding God in the Tough Stuff. A lot of you had tough weeks cleaning up after last weekend's flash flooding. I know many of you also saw God at work in the midst of it. Friends and neighbors stopping by to offer whatever help was needed. People who didn't get hit reaching out to say they were available to help as needed.
One of the primary metaphors describing the church used by New Testament writers is
"The Body of Christ." We are Christ's body. We get to be the hands and feet of Jesus reaching out and loving the world around us. It's part of what it means to be the church.
One of the places in town that suffered a lot of flood damage was the YMCA. The clean-up is effecting many of the classes and programs offered by the YMCA. I think it's great that for the next several weeks (excluding VBS WEEK, July 23-27) we're expecting 60 kids plus adult volunteers from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm to help the YMCA continue their important service to our community while their building is being remodeled.
While 10" of rain in a couple of hours might be a rare occurrence, it's pretty common to find ourselves in places in life where we feel a little off kilter, disoriented or lost. I'm looking forward to exploring the question Where Is God When I Feel Lost? this weekend. Bring your Bible and a friend who could use some direction. It's gonna be a great weekend at Hope!
July is jam packed here (what month isn't!). We're gearing up for Summerfest, VBS, Taste of Hope and more. You can always see what's coming up by following the Looking Ahead link on the homepage of the website!
See you around, Hope!
