This Weekend at Hope:
Genesis: A Binge-Worthy Bible Series | Arrested Development | Genesis 4:1-7
Happy Friday, Hope

Last weekend we kicked off the New Year in style. Following each worship service last weekend, an invitation was given to come to the waters of baptism. It was an amazing experience to be a part of 25 people being baptized and 91 others renewing their baptisms. This also happened at every campus of Hope. Jesus says, "there is joy in the presence of God's angels when even one sinner repents." (Luke 15:10)

It was quite a Jesus party last weekend - God is on the move. And we are On a Mission From God!

As the New Year is underway, the Hope Ankeny staff have been reviewing Hope's Core Values. One of the values states: "Following Jesus is a Growing Experience." That growth happens both deep and wide. Deep growth is about maturing as followers of Jesus. Wide growth happens as our reach impacts more and more people all the time.

In response to that growth, I've put together a Phase 2 Team to begin to prayerfully and creatively explore ideas to provide more room for the growing ministries of Hope Ankeny. I've told the team my hope is that we'll be able to share a plan with the congregation sometime this fall.

This weekend we continue our series on the book of Genesis and I'll be preaching a message called Arrested Development. We'll dig into themes of jealousy, control, revenge and how they prevent us from the growth to maturity God desires for us.

This weekend is also the kick-off of Alpha (Sunday from 12:30 - 3:00 pm). We've offered Alpha every year on Sunday nights. This session we decided to change the times for the sake of people for whom Sunday nights never work. If you're looking for a way to grow in your faith and get connected at Hope, Alpha is a great first step.

Bring your Bible (to keep the preacher honest and give you more context), and a friend, and we'll see you at worship.

Pastor Scott

P.S. Just a reminder that Hope never cancels worship due to weather. We trust you'll make a wise decision as to your ability to get to worship safely! For evening classes we make decisions by 3:00 pm, and for situations when the weather changes overnight, check the website and Hope's social media pages!
