This Weekend:

You Asked for It
"How Can We Pass Faith On to Our Kids?"
 Pastor's Preview:
Happy Friday Hope!

You don't have to look very closely in the pages of Scripture to discover that following Jesus leads to a life of service

"Who is more important, the one who sits at the table, or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves." Luke 22:27

Whenever people ask me to describe Hope, one of the first things I mention is the joy with which the people of this church serve. Thank you to all of you for the ways you follow Jesus and have created a counter-cultural movement lifting the importance of serving the world around us.

There are many ways for you to get involved in a life of service at Hope. One of the great volunteer leaders we have at Hope Ankeny is Jennifer Riedemann. This weekend Jennifer and members of the Mission Team will be available after worship to answer any questions you might have about serving through the mission ministry of Hope.

A couple of opportunities we want to highlight:

+ Love Lunches is a mission opportunity to provide free, nutritious sack lunches to Ankeny children throughout the summer. Volunteers from Hope Ankeny are partnering with local Ankeny churches to serve food every day of the week and to prep food supplies on the weekend.

+ Agape Garden Work Days Agape Garden is a one-acre garden with the goal of growing food to feed the local hungry. Once a month throughout the summer, volunteers from Hope Ankeny will gather for work days! It's a perfect way to serve with your family this summer. Come and work at the garden - planting, harvesting, mulching and other gardening tasks. Directions, supplies and tools are provided on site.

Serving is important for all kinds of reasons, one of which is the way it helps build faith in the life of our families. This weekend as we celebrate Mother's Day we'll be talking about the question How Can We Pass on Faith to Our Kids? It's a role our mom's play in our life, but I'm guessing many of you also have teachers, coaches, neighbors and others who have helped your faith grow. We all are people of influence for others. What does it look like to influence people in the direction of faith? Come and see!

Thanks for being the church wherever you are and for filling our communities with Hope!

Pastor Scott
