This Weekend at Hope:
Happy Mother's Day | Motherhood Lessons Learned | Proverbs 31:10-31

Dear Hope Des Moines Family,

It's Mother's Day weekend, which probably means one of several things: A) Your mind is now racing because you forgot to get your mom or wife a card or gift. B) You're a mom (or grandma, or aunt, or motherly influence in someone's life) and you can't wait for a much-deserved day to celebrate you. Or C) There's some anxiety and fear about this weekend because your mom is not around anymore, you long to be a mother but are not, or there's pain or brokenness in that relationship. When it comes to moms, all of us are impacted in one way or another.

The one thing we can't ignore is that we all have a mom (and a dad) - parents. And the parent-child relationship is at the heart of the universe. In God, we have a good and perfect parent all the time, so no matter what your relationship is like with your parents, we have a father in heaven who promises to be the strong, faithful, loving parent we've always longed for. This weekend he offers all of us his healing, his grace, and his encouragement! Which means no matter what, this weekend is a great weekend to worship him and be together as God's family!

I'm also excited to preach this weekend with a huge assist from five awesome moms from our community through a special video we're working on (pictured here). Each of these moms shares powerful words of wisdom, not only for moms and all women, but for each of us who sometimes forget to turn to Jesus and receive his grace. So guys, this might be one of the more important messages you could hear as well!

I can't wait to see you all this weekend - Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:15 or 11:00 am! Bring your mom, that special woman in your life, and the kids!

Jon

P.S. With summer right around the corner, there are two very practical ways you can get involved with the growing number of children in our community:
  1. Serve by helping out once a month with our Summer HopeKids program. It's super easy and super fun. We'll train you and I guarantee your faith will grow! Contact Jami Lacona, our Children's Ministry coordinator HERE.
  2. It's not too early to get signed up for Vacation Bible School - the can't-miss party of the summer - (kids and adults as volunteers!) Early bird registration ends June 15, so sign up HERE today!
