Happy Friday Hope!
This weekend marks the104th Mother's Day celebration in our nation. In 1908, Anna Jarvis led a small tribute to her mother at St. Andrews Methodist Church in memory of her mother's teaching about mothers of the Bible. Anna's mom believed there should be a day set apart filled with gratitude and love for mothers. Six years later, in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson made the second Sunday of May a national holiday.
This weekend, we will acknowledge all the special women in our congregation by handing out carnations at all of
our weekend services
. Not only do we recognize all the moms in our congregation, but all women who have walked with others in love, encouragement and prayer. A photo booth will be at all services, so have some fun and capture this special day with those special women in your life.
This can also be a challenging time for those who have experienced a recent loss, struggles with infertility, not knowing an earthly mom, or unresolved wounds with a mom. Please know if that's you, you are not alone, and our ministry is here to help, pray, encourage and walk alongside you or loved ones.
Finally, next weekend our regular
program will close with the end of the school year, and we ramp up for
beginning on Saturday, June 2 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, June 3 at 9:15 & 11:00 am. We'd love to encourage those in the congregation to help this summer by volunteering. This gives those who have served during the school year a break. If you can help, please visit this
to sign up.
