This weekend at Hope:
Happy Mother's Day! | Motherhood: Lessons Learned | Proverbs 31:10-31
Happy Friday Hope!
This weekend marks the104th Mother's Day celebration in our nation. In 1908, Anna Jarvis led a small tribute to her mother at St. Andrews Methodist Church in memory of her mother's teaching about mothers of the Bible. Anna's mom believed there should be a day set apart filled with gratitude and love for mothers. Six years later, in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson made the second Sunday of May a national holiday.
This weekend, we will acknowledge all the special women in our congregation by handing out carnations at all of our weekend services. Not only do we recognize all the moms in our congregation, but all women who have walked with others in love, encouragement and prayer. A photo booth will be at all services, so have some fun and capture this special day with those special women in your life.
This can also be a challenging time for those who have experienced a recent loss, struggles with infertility, not knowing an earthly mom, or unresolved wounds with a mom. Please know if that's you, you are not alone, and our ministry is here to help, pray, encourage and walk alongside you or loved ones.
Finally, next weekend our regular HopeKids program will close with the end of the school year, and we ramp up for Summer HopeKids beginning on Saturday, June 2 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, June 3 at 9:15 & 11:00 am. We'd love to encourage those in the congregation to help this summer by volunteering. This gives those who have served during the school year a break. If you can help, please visit this link to sign up.
Happy Mother's Day!

Saturday, May 19, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

To celebrate the growth of our church family and strengthen the bond within our congregation, we welcome you to be a part of our upcoming photo directory. We need you to make our directory complete!

We also need volunteers to help with checking people in when they arrive. Each shift is approximately two hours and photo sessions start every 10 minutes. The job is to make sure the information card is filled out completely and any no-shows are recorded for follow-up. There may be some down-time during a shift, so bring a book! Contact
Wendy with any questions. Volunteer here.

Sitting with God
Tuesday, May 15, 6:30-8:00 pm

Do you ever feel confused about how to pray or spend your time with God? Sitting With God will help you navigate that time and give you practical tools to grow and enrich your time with God. We will talk about the why behind prayer as well as the how (which includes the when and the where). We will eventually step into the what to do next: praying for others, listening for others, getting creative with God and seeking healing for the broken.
