"The Lord your God is with you."
This past week, I have been a little numb... if I can be honest. Waking up to the realization of the mass shooting in Las Vegas mixed with local school district threats was all that my senses could handle, plus turning 40 years old. I mean, come on.
In asking all sorts of questions this week, and trying to give my children perspective, I was drawn to God's word in
"Look at my servant, whom I strengthen.
He is my chosen one, who pleases me.
I have put my Spirit upon him.
He will bring justice to the nations.
He will not shout
or raise his voice in public.
He will not crush the weakest reed
Or put out a flickering candle.
He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.
He will not falter or lose heart
Until justice prevails throughout all the earth."
These are reminders that we are a chosen people, and that God has called us to serve the world. It is a tremendous calling, hope, and promise. I pray that God will use your individual words to inspire, equip, build up and speak hope to loved ones. Don't forget your baptismal charge, "Let your light shine!"
Jesus, of course, has overcome the darkness and in community with one voice, many stones and even mountains can be moved. So, let's gather this weekend, and in one voice, declare that Jesus is Lord, and stand in community with one another. I can't think of anything more powerful over the forces of this world.
