This week I want to share with you news from Pam Kensler, Hope's Office Manager

October 1, 2017
"The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness
and the world's deep hunger meet." --Frederick Buechner

For nearly five years the place God called me to was Hope Lutheran Church.  At Hope I was fortunate enough to develop strong relationships with many members, particularly as my husband and I experienced the loss of our son in 2014.  There are far too many members of Hope that inspired my spiritual growth during my time on the staff team to even begin to name them, but know that each of you reading this letter have been one of those faithful people who I have come to care deeply for.  Over the past five years I have also been blessed by the leadership of Hope that provided me with training, mentoring, and skill development.  The experience I have gained serving as Hope's Office Manager will forever enhance my professional career.

It is with deep gratitude and a strong sense of bittersweetness that I now must answer God's next calling in life and resign from my position at Hope effective October 23.  In the weeks ahead I will hold you all in prayer as transitions unfold and a new reality settles in for each of you.  In turn I ask for your prayers as I prepare to answer my new calling to serve as the Director of Discipleship and Outreach for a collaborative church effort in Fremont, Living in Faith Together (LIFT).  This new calling will allow me to meet a deep hunger for strengthening the churches in Fremont and to answer my feeling of deep gladness from leading small groups, planning outreach events and preaching on a monthly basis.  This new calling also has an added bonus of a much shorter commute and the ability to answer more faithfully my calling as a wife and a mother.

As I'm able I'll certainly look for ways to remain connected to the community of Hope and will especially delight in having Lucy visit you all in December for what will be one of the best gifts Hope can offer, A Night in Bethlehem.

With immense gratitude,
Pam Kensler

The entire congregation is invited to a reception for Pam on October 22nd at 10 AM in the family lounge.  Stayed tuned for more details.
