Coastal Cleanup and Lunch Saturday, September 15!
Join your neighbors cleaning our shorelines and creeks
I hope you join me and hundreds of thousands of volunteers worldwide participating in this year's International Coastal Cleanup Day   on September 15. California Coastal Cleanup Day is part of this international effort.

There are many ways to pitch in this year in West Contra Costa County.

This includes the Richmond Shoreline cleanup based at Shimada Friendship Park. This is my 28th year sponsoring this site, which includes a free volunteer lunch at noon.

Based from Shimada Park, we clean the marshes, beach, and rocky Richmond shoreline, a catchment for plastic and other debris blowing across the San Francisco Bay. A kayak flotilla will join the effort.

Other cleanups include: the Lucky A's North Richmond Ballfield, Wildcat Creek Fish Ladder, Fred Jackson Way near the North Richmond Farm, Baxter Creek in Richmond, Bayfront Park in Pinole, and the Pt. Pinole Regional Shoreline.

For a list and map of all Coastal Cleanup sites in West Contra Costa check the Watershed Project's Coastal Cleanup webpage.

Volunteers from all sites are invited to our free lunch at Shimada Park at noon.
