- January 2017 Newsletter -

Our annual kick-off to camp will be at Hackney's on Lake on January 7th from 5 to 9. It will be a wonderful time to visit with friends and is an easy way to introduce a friend to Horizon Camp.

There is going to be a cash bar with classic Hackney's appetizers provided by Horizon. If you are planning to eat dinner at the main restaurant, please call Hackney's to make your reservation.

Horizon Highlight: Jan Basile
Jan Basile was introduced to Horizon by Geri Skudney. They worked together at the Clerk of the Circuit Court. She has attended two fall weekends and this past July she attended Horizon's summer camp for the first time. Jan's favorite part about her first camp experience was "getting to meet all the people I heard Geri talk about for 25 years!"

Although Jan just recently started attending camp, she has been helping Horizon out for years. She has helped with several fundraisers, including bowling at Glenwood Lanes and Night at the Races every year. She has also sold raffle tickets every year since the raffle started and this year she is running the entire thing.
Jan is now retired from the Clerk of the Circuit Court. She spends a lot of her free time volunteering for other organizations as well. She is is the Vice President of a service group called It's A Service Thing. She also did the Avon Breast Cancer Walk this year on the Save The Boobies team with other long-time Horizon volunteers Brenda Bokowski and Katy Flynn. Jan loves to bicycle. Her favorite talk show is Ellen and her favorite movie is Miracle on 34th Street.
