- July 2016 Newsletter -

It's July and we are focused on our Count Down to Camp 2016. If you won't be joining us for the whole week of camp this year we hope that you can stop by on Friday, July 22nd for Visitors' Day. Dinner will be at 6pm with entertainment to follow. Over the years all of you have played an important part in building Horizon.
If you will be joining us please be sure to RSVP to the Horizon Hotline at 773-477-5170.
Recruitment Update
We are short a few male volunteers for our week of camp. Not having the volunteers causes us to put campers onto our wait list. If you can volunteer please apply today. If you are attending camp, please be sure to turn in all your pre-camp paperwork, and remember to watch for a call from your team leader.
Camp Will Be Filled With Superheroes
Horizon is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and we're calling all superheroes to help make this years summer camp one to remember. Campers will get to do everything from getting to show off target skills at paintball or even showing the world that superheroes can let loose with some karaoke. We are even planning a super hero dinner for Tuesday night during camp so don't forget to pack your masks and capes!
Horizon Highlight: Jessica Janes-Crowley RN
Jessica Janes-Crowley has been coming to Horizon Camp since the very first year. She decided to attend after seeing a presentation at her high school. She loved camp and decided to keep coming back, missing only one year in the past 25.
Over the years, Jessica has contributed to the organization in many ways. She was on the board for about 10 years, serving as president for three years. She has organized several fundraisers, including a 5K race and spaghetti dinners, and she has helped out with some of Horizon's annual events, such as the Golf Outing and Night at the Races.
Margie and Jessica
Like many people, one of Jessica's favorite parts of camp is being able to spend a week with her friends, who she now considers family. She also loves that anything is possible at camp and we can all achieve anything we set our minds to. "Horizon really makes you appreciate everyone and everything, and has taught me not to take things or people for granted."
Outside of Horizon, Jessica is a nurse, and has three kids, Alyssa, Joey, and Alexis, with her husband Joe. " I love that my kids have grown up being a part of Horizon, they have learned acceptance, and realize how important volunteering, and helping other is."  Jessica's family can see how important Horizon is to her every day and she would like to give a special thanks to all her friends and family for supporting Horizon for the past 25 years.
