Viking Engine Details

Viking prides itself on attention to detail and nowhere is this unyielding commitment to build a better boat every day more apparent than in the enginerooms. Our gorgeous hand-finished interiors and designer appointments notwithstanding, Viking's design, engineering and production groups clearly focus on making the engineroom a spectacular achievement of form and function. The machinery space and installation of these MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L aboard a 92 Convertible is a fine example.

Details matter, even ones not readily seen. The undersides of these access hatches aboard a 66 Convertible, for example, are fitted with tight sealing gasket material. Deep gutters divert wash down water from seeping below. Stainless-steel piano hinges add strength, security and provide a flush installation. Built in tool boxes keep equipment nearby while helping to reduce clutter.

The snow white gelcoat overhead is polished to shine. White Awlgrip paint is used on bilge and metal components, and the engine beds are powder coated. The result is a gleaming environment easy to keep clean and maintain aboard the Viking 55.

To simplify maintenance and add convenience, many Vikings employ a centralized sea water system. The manifold supplies raw water to various ancillary accessories including live wells, water makers, ice chipping machines, wash down systems and air conditioning units.

Engineroom access is convenient on every model. This 75 Motor Yacht provides access from the aft deck via the powder coated aluminum ladder, as well as through the locking door in the crew quarter companionway.

Most Viking models, including this Viking 62 Convertible, offer convenient egress through the stand-up hatch beneath the cockpit mezzanine. Easily seen engineroom and refrigeration gauges provide monitoring information without going below.

Aboard the Viking 42 Open, Sport Tower and Sport Coupe models, the mezzanine lifts for mechanical access.
