This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of the man for whom Hostos Community College was named. Born in Puerto Rico on January 11, 1839, Eugenio Mar�a de Hostos excelled in many fields, including literature, sociology, education, jurisprudence, and philosophy.

Frances M. Green Speaks to Hostos About Succeeding in the Global Workforce  When Frances M. Green, a successful trial lawyer, counselor, and motivational speaker, addressed students, faculty, and staff members at Eugenio Mar�a de Hostos Community College on March 12, her message was that neither a person's gender nor ethnicity should be considered a weakness. To the contrary, both are sources of strength.
