Hostos Teams Up with NASA to Enable More Women and Members of Minority Groups to Reach for the Stars

When 22-year-old Hostos Community College student Thaelis Suriel sits in the science and math classes that are part of her electrical engineering major, she notices something that the other female students notice as well.
There are very few other women in the classroom.
Suriel is trying to buck that trend, and as a Hispanic, she is also part of the fastest growing segment of the population that can help the United States remain competitive in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Hostos Media Design Professors Redesign Study Abroad Model
Educational study abroad programs allow students to leave their "safety zones" and learn in a different way and different place. But when it is not practical to travel to new countries or continents, the same results can be achieved by staying closer to home.
That has been the mantra for Hostos Community College's Media Design professors Catherine Lewis and Sarah Sandman who have reinterpreted the study abroad educational model.

Position: Hostos Men's Basketball Head Coach
Coach King is entering his second season as coach of the Caimans, and if this season is anything like his first, the team and their fans have a lot to look forward to.
In the 2011-12 season, the Caimans finished with a 19-9 record and second place in the CUNYAC. After a heart breaking, last-second loss in the CUNYAC Championships, they earned a No. 3 seed in the NJCAA Region XV Tournament.
