Made possible by charitable contributions from Pfizer/Astellas and Bayer ... Thank You!

Greetings!

We hope that you’re doing well and making the most of the opportunities to enjoy the summer. In keeping with our commitment to provide educational resources and support services, we’re pleased to provide you with the enclosed July issue of the Hot SHEET

In collaboration with local support group leader Patrick Fisher, we were in Rochester, NY, on Saturday, June 17, to host “A Community Conversation: Prostate Cancer and You!” The event addressed the importance of informed decision making for patients and caregivers specific to PSA testing, active surveillance, treatment options for all phases of prostate cancer from an initial diagnosis to advancing disease, and management of side effects.

We’d like to thank Patrick Fisher and everyone who attended, along with event sponsors Bayer, Janssen Oncology, Pfizer Oncology / Astellas, Myriad and University Medical Imaging; physician presenters Dr. Chunkit Fung, Dr. Jean Joseph, and Dr. Eric Weinberg; and the survivors and caregiver who shared their personal experiences and knowledge about informed decision making: John Armani, Doug Robb, Jim Anderson, Kevin Tallie and Debbie Johnson. Watch for details on the next Community Conversation on Prostate Cancer in Wilmington, NC, which will be held on Saturday, September 23.

Do you have a non-medical, non-treatment idea for changing cancer care? The Astellas Oncology C3 Prize® is encouraging applicants from all over the world and from all backgrounds to submit innovative ideas to change cancer care. Now in its second year, the C3 Prize will award $100,000 in unrestricted grants and access to mentorship to bring the brightest ideas to life. Applications are being accepted until 11:59 p.m. CST on August 21st. Visit www.C3Prize.com for all of the details.

Please plan to attend and/or fundraise for the 13th Annual SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run in Lincoln Park on Sunday, September 10th. If you’re unable to attend the event in-person, please consider fundraising as a “Virtual Mover” or donating to the event. Funds raised help Us TOO provide educational resources and support services to the prostate cancer community at no charge.  For more information or to register for the event, visit www.seablueprostatewalk.org.
