LOS ANGELES-Coinciding with Marriott International's General Managers Conference here this week at the two-year-old JW Marriott at LA Live, the developers of a new dual-brand Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott located across the street unveiled plans for their project, which will bring another 392 rooms to the city's quickly emerging downtown neighborhood.

Developers Williams Dame and American Life expect construction on the $172 million, 23-story project to begin this spring with the 174-room upper-end select-service Courtyard and the 218-suite upscale extended-stay Residence Inn scheduled to open in mid-2014.

Attending the launch event were senior Marriott International executives, including outgoing CEO J.W.
